Job DescriptionJoin our team at KVEA Telemundo 52, broadcasting from the iconic Universal Studios Lot. We are seeking a dynamic and seasoned News Anchor to lead our Spanish-language broadcasts with vigor and passion. This dedicated journalist will become a vital part of a newsroom renowned for its focus on breaking news, in-depth local reporting, and fostering strong connections with the varied and vibrant Hispanic communities throughout Southern California.
The Anchor will be tasked with the live, on-air presentation of breaking news and scheduled newscasts, ensuring that the information delivered is both timely and impactful. The role demands proficiency in writing, reporting, and producing comprehensive local news stories in Spanish, catering to a broad audience across multiple platforms, including Noticias California (FAST) livestream channel, website, social media, and other over-the-top (OTT) service. Our ideal candidate is not only an exceptional broadcaster but also a storyteller who can engage viewers with insightful journalism and a deep understanding of the community they serve.
Responsibilities
- Present both live breaking news and scheduled newscasts professionally, ensuring clarity and accuracy in Spanish.
- Articulate viewpoints and experiences in a manner that cultivates a personal connection with the audience.
- Coordinate, organize, and conduct impactful interviews.
- Write, report, and produce local news stories for linear, livestream, and digital broadcasts, including social media, website, and Noticias California on FAST.
- Ensure editorial accuracy and compliance with NBCUniversal legal standards when writing for linear and posting stories to digital platforms.
- Exceptional news judgment with the ability to identify and prioritize compelling, relevant, and timely stories. Adept at sifting through large volumes of information to find newsworthy angles and perspectives.
- Conduct in-depth investigative reporting to deliver comprehensive and insightful local news coverage.
- Report from the field, including live shots, interviews, and package stories.
- Build and maintain strong connections with diverse Hispanic communities in Southern California, ensuring their concerns and stories are represented in news coverage.
- Collaborate closely with producers, reporters, and other newsroom staff to deliver cohesive and dynamic newscasts.
- Write and copy-edit assigned scripts for newscasts with precision and clarity.
- Develop and maintain a network of news sources across communities, organizations, and social media platforms to secure exclusive stories.
- Participate in station-sponsored events and special promotional projects as assigned.
Basic Requirements:
- BA or BS in related field.
- Must possess a minimum of 5 years television anchor/reporter experience.
- Candidate must have excellent Spanish writing skills as well as very strong verbal skills.
- Strong ability to ad-lib effortlessly, especially in breaking news situations.
- Solid news judgment, strong writing, and research skills
- Experience in a variety of anchor/host scenarios, including studio, remotes, specials and on-air reporting functions including anchoring, investigations, and franchises.
- Strong understanding and demonstration of editorial judgment and journalistic ethics, including a current knowledge of laws of libel, slander and applicable FCC rules and regulations.
- Demonstrated expertise in writing, visual storytelling, and live reporting.

- Creativity in storytelling, utilizing multimedia tools and innovative approaches to present news in an engaging and informative manner. Skill in adapting to new media platforms and trends to reach diverse audiences.
- A proactive approach to building and maintaining strong ties with diverse Hispanic communities in Southern California, ensuring their voices are represented in news coverage. Active participation in community events and initiatives.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple tasks with shifting deadlines. Demonstrates resilience and efficiency under pressure.
- Skills in engaging with the audience through social media platforms, live interactions, and digital forums. Ability to grow and sustain a loyal viewer base through consistent and charismatic presence.

- Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

Salary range: $130,000 - $165,000
