MAC Communications executes a strategic communications approach that promotes the metro Atlanta region through the efforts of MAC investors and partners. It emphasizes the work of the Metro Atlanta Chamber in the areas of economy, talent, and community.
Job Summary
The
Director of Communications
will support communications efforts for the Metro Atlanta Chamber (MAC). This position calls for an energetic, collaborative, and team-oriented self-starter who excels at writing and has a passion for promoting the region. We are seeking a candidate who embodies MAC's core values: relentless, smart, and all-in. Key areas of focus include:

Investor Relations
Responsibilities & Duties
Supports communications at the direction of the Vice President of Strategic Communications
Acts as agency lead on internal communications, such as regular staff newsletters and executive messages
Creates briefings and talking points for executive communications for internal and external audiences, including Board meetings, the MAC Annual Meeting, keynote speeches, and other speaking engagements
Develops written and digital collateral as directed, including but not limited to:
Op-eds
Executive speeches
Newsletter content
Social media content
Speaking proposals
Amplification of member news
Internal staff communications
Works closely with the Marketing team to update and curate the MAC website and ensure that social channel messaging is timely and relevant
Conducts media outreach as directed
Researches media coverage and industry trends
Engages in special projects including supporting MAC initiatives like ATLeaders, ATL Interns After 5, and the Non-Profit Roundtable.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, or a related field
5+ years of experience working in public relations, communications, or a related field
Proven excellent communicator with strong writing skills who exhibits meticulous attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to craft compelling messages speaking to a wide variety of audiences
Knowledgeable about social media and web best practices
Familiarity with professional writing styles (AP, MBA, legal, etc.), and the ability to shift between a variety of voices, tones, and styles
Experience with PR/media relations tools such as Muckrack
Project and/or agency management experience
Experience driving collaboration within teams; works independently but embodies a collaborative approach
