The Global Advertising and Brand Management (GABM) organization has a mission to create marketplace demand and drive commerce for American Express through differentiated and innovative Ideas, products, partnerships, marketing, and customer experiences.
OnBrand is American Express’ In-House Creative agency, our agency is on the next journey of our exciting expansion. Our ambition is “Become creative partner-of-choice to build seamless customer experiences for our Business Units, essential for driving results and unlocking value through deeper knowledge of our business powered by industry-defining creative excellence”. We are focused on developing forward thinking ideas and work across channels, end-to-end experiences in digital and beyond.
To be successful in this role, the candidate must exhibit outstanding creative judgment and guide a dynamic creative team of designers, developers, experience designers, producers, editors, Motion and 3D animators in achieving the highest possible standards. The candidate must have experience overseeing large creative design, digital and production teams. They must have previous experience at a Group Creative Director level. This individual will be responsible for guiding and setting design direction while connecting the creative approach to the business strategy. The candidate must be able to convincingly present creative concepts to all parties.
This individual will play a critical role to attract, retain and develop best-in-industry agency talent and build a culture delivering transformative work. The Head of Design and Content Production will report to the Executive Creative Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspire and lead the Design, Digital and Content Production groups
- Ensure creative execution quality is aligned with creative vision, collaborating with the Creative Directors to execute ideas flawlessly
- Oversee all creative work end-to-end to ensure quality standards and client objectives are met, while upholding the creative vision for the group
- Drive the integration of all creative work, including teaming with external agencies to ensure a holistic customer experience
- Lead the creative briefing and decision-making processes, incorporating input from the Creative Strategy Lead
- Oversee design solutions across platforms and experiences
- Build partnerships across American Express to support strategic development of creative work
- Along with Creative Directors, present high-priority creative work to Business Unit stakeholders (including Executive and Senior level Clients)
- Be the champion of the work OnBrand creates with internal stakeholders
- Drive issue resolution for issues that arise in the creative and production processes
- Collaborate on department budget with OnBrand operational excellence team
- Attract, inspire, and retain the industry’s most interesting creative talent to OnBrand
Preferred Qualifications:
- A seasoned agency creative leader with 10+ years of experience: someone, with experience (and passion for) inspiring teams, leading creative work, and building a creative culture
- A creative leader who sets the tone for the work: someone who knows what good looks like and sets a high standard and has won industry awards
- Has design and digital roots with a deep knowledge in content creation and production
- A client partner, capable of building great creative work that solves business challenges
- Significant creative experience working at a leading in-house or external design agency
- A strong, empathetic leader, with demonstrated ability to develop and mentor talent and build diverse, inclusive creative teams at scale
- Dynamic leader that inspires and motivates, communicates clearly, and fosters a positive working environment
- Familiarity with creative budget planning and management
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop a deep understanding of the American Express brand, and all sub-brands/Business Units/products and services
- Represents the American Express culture in thought and practice: team-oriented, innovative and client focused.
Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
Salary Range: $185,000.00 to $260,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits.
