Social Media Content Creator

Are you a storyteller at heart who’s also well-versed in all aspects of social media? The Office of Communications and Creative Services at Purchase College has a place for your expertise. We’re searching for a part-time social media content creator who is creative, proficient on multiple social media platforms, capable of creating compelling original content, and has their finger on the pulse of social media trends on and off college campuses. Excellent photography and videography skills are a must to capture both spontaneous moments and planned events.

The ideal candidate will:

Work alongside the communications team to implement a strategic social media plan.

Keep tabs on social media trends and trending topics.

Create content tailored for different audiences.

Reach out to campus members to coordinate content-gathering.

Capture spontaneous moments on campus—they’ll know potential content when they see it.

Use their outgoing nature to engage with campus community members.

Document events on campus including specific events, classes, and programs to support recruitment and marketing initiatives.

Qualifications

Have a college degree and at least two years of experience in content creation

Fluent on TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram in terms of each platform’s abilities, features, and audiences.

Ability to create and edit videos, photos, and images appropriate for social media utilizing a range of apps and programs.

Able to look at social media insights and data and adjust content as needed.

Familiarity with posting through programs such as Hootsuite a plus.

Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite a plus.

This in-person position is hourly, up to 19 hours per week. Hours are flexible but will include some nights and weekends as needed. The salary is $24-27 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Candidates will be asked to create a few sample posts and send their portfolio as part of the interview process.

We hope to fill this position for a mid-January start date.
