Salary: $75,000 - $100,000 depending on experience

Dailymail.com are seeking a Senior & Technology Editor to oversee the editorial direction of the Science & Tech news team reporting into the Executive Managing Editor. The individual should be able to demonstrate an impressive track record of finding and breaking exclusive science & tech stories of national and global interest.
We are looking for candidates with experience in the following areas:A broad knowledge of all science & tech matters (essential)Ability to work self-sufficiently, generate own science & tech stories and contribute brilliant stories to the daily science & tech news listAbility to digest scientific papers and dry press releases/reports packed full of statistics and turn it into an engaging pieceThe role is largely news-led, but an ability to write moving real-life features when required is important.
In collaboration with the executive teams, you will work to execute strategy for the U.S. Science & Technology coverage and manage a team of reporters and their daily output. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality of output in alignment with the demands of a 24-hour global news operation.
You will require excellent news judgement and be able to quickly identify content which engages with our readership. You will also be responsible for the planning and development of long-term news stories and events.
Outstanding candidates should also be able to demonstrate their ability to balance editorial objectives in a fast-paced news environment.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Managing a team of reporters and working collaboratively with photo and video producers, social and SEO teamsWorking jointly with the executive team to plan the editorial direction and workflowExercising news judgement and using in-house analytics tools to ensure that news teams are optimizing headlines and sub-decks to in-house styleQuality control ensuring the teams produce the most engaging copy and working with content partners to ensure each story published has the most compelling selection of images, animation and video availableCollaborating with global editorial team to obtain content from the global desks which may be of interest to the U.S. readershipMentoring co-workers and ensuring development opportunities are being nurturedTalent scouting potential new recruitsWe are looking for professionals with the following:
Passion for the DailyMail.com brand, its editorial voice and global audienceAt least six years or more experience managing teams in a major newsroomDemonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom environment whilst delivering accuracy and accurate presentationCapability to write and edit in a pressurised environmentApplicable knowledge of multiplatform news gathering tools and resourcesMust have a strong passion for finding the most interesting information to surface for our readershipStrong communication skills to direct and work collaboratively with a global team of editorial executives and co-workers
