The Apple Services design team is seeking an experienced UI designer to focus on standards and frameworks across our apps and services. If you have a passion for bringing people together, spotting opportunities to unify common features and components, creating and maintaining design patterns and resources, and helping product designers apply them to their work, this role may be for you.Description The Common UI team works closely with product design teams and production designers across the design organization to ensure that our products are consistent with platform standards and accessible to all users. As new ideas and needs emerge, we are on the forefront of the effort to turn them into reusable patterns, and incorporate them into design resources and frameworks. The position requires working across dozens of teams to gain consensus and provide deliverables under tight deadlines. You will need to be able to build trust and credibility with partner teams and leaders, and bring people together to work through differing creative opinions. Your work will be highly visible to internal audiences as well as Apple customers, so a deep understanding of Apple’s standards and design aesthetic is a must. You will help product design teams meet customers' high expectations for quality and familiarity by applying system-provided interface elements, icons, text styles, and uniform terminology to innovative new features; work across product design teams to identify emerging trends, and turn them into reusable patterns; develop and maintain pattern libraries, toolkits, and documentation; and advocate for UI standards and accessibility with designers, engineers, and stakeholders. You’ll also work closely with the teams responsible for UI frameworks, by contributing ideas and feedback to their projects, and helping teams in Services to adopt new features and components.Minimum Qualifications 8 + years of hands-on design experience focused on unifying UI and UX design across multiple teams with differing goals and priorities—including developing, maintaining, and gaining adoption of pattern libraries.A proven ability to build trust, foster an environment of teamwork and cooperation, and build partnerships across multiple design organizations.A portfolio of work that showcases excellence in user experience and visual design.Demonstrated ability to build sketches, wireframes, high fidelity comps, prototypes, and written documentation, and organize them into libraries that are easy and enjoyable for other designers to use.Demonstrated ability to advocate for UI consistency with designers, engineers, product managers, and executives through writing, visuals, and presentations.Highly skilled in both Sketch and Figma, as well as Keynote.Preferred Qualifications Experience and interest in designing media applications and/or subscription services.Experience with prototyping tools and creating prototypes.Deep knowledge of the UI controls available in Apple UI frameworks, and familiarity with the underlying technology that powers them.Familiarity with accessibility standards, inclusive design practices, and accessibility features on Apple operating systems.Experience working in a design organization at a large, established company with several different products.Bachelors or Master’s degree in a design-related subject area, or equivalent work experience preferred.Apple is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to inclusion and diversity.
