HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT:
20% Creative Concept
Partner with design leaders to research trends, product, prints, fabrics and color to inspire a compelling product assortment and build mood boards for creative concept presentations.
Collaborate with design team to create new silhouettes, inspire color and art and develop fabrics and trims.
Partner with Design Manager to concept, sketch and request design samples.
Collaborate with Design Manager to co-design plush, wood and other toys (no hard goods experience required).
30% Product line Development
Lead design of 30% the Carter’s Baby Accessories and apparel line as needed and as workload allows.
Work with both internal and external Design, Art, Product Development, and Merchandising teams to create designs that are both innovative and brand right.
Manage Flex PLM linesheets, uploading colorway images, inputting SC numbers and adding product change comments. Maintain OSV linesheets, ensuring they stay up-to-date through development.
Create and manage all flat sketches, SC cards and communication with Technical Design team.
Manage organization and storage of Design’s purchased samples and mood boards.
Strong understanding of product categories and deliveries at both style and program level.
Responsible for helping team achieve calendar deliverables and deadlines for all stages of design.
50% Design Process & Communication
Display proficiency in design fundamentals, systems and processes, flat sketching in Illustrator, line sheet and PLM responsibilities.
Partner with Design Manager to develop a successful Baby line, researching trends, product, prints, fabrics and color to inspire a compelling product assortment.
Partner with Design Manager to communicate with Licensees through daily email follow up, sharing digital and physical assets as needed.
Participate in all aspects of daily follow up with internal business partners, i.e. email communication and meetings.
Partner with design manager to review pre-production art (review prints, graphic scale & placements, validate color chips and line sheets and own complete process for their portion of the line).
Responsible for maintaining all product details throughout design review process that impact final execution of product commercialization; communicate changes with tech, merchant, sourcing and production teams.
Participate in fittings, partnering with design team to provide design intent feedback and follow up with necessary changes.
WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF:
Must have:
BA or BFA required, preferably in apparel design
1-2 years of design experience
Exhibit inquisitiveness, excellent communication and analytical skills
Possess strong attention to detail and good organizational skills
Strong time management and creative problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Be able to balance multiple responsibilities independently
Ability to work in a fast paced, creative, and team-oriented environment
Exceptional Mac skills: Adobe Illustrator
Preferred skills and experience:
Working knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool preferred
Experience in Children’s Apparel
