Pay: $130,000- 170,000 / Yearly Salary + Benefits
Products: Chemicals: Additives, Dispersions, Release Agents, and Polymers
Location: Based near Piscataway, NJ
Schedule: Full-time / Monday - Friday
We are on the hunt for a dynamic and skilled Technical Director to lead, innovate, and mentor our cutting-edge technical team at a top-tier company specializing in high-performance additives and dispersion technologies. This is a critical role where you will shape the company's strategic direction for product and process development while spearheading key R&D projects. We are seeking a visionary leader who thrives on curiosity, is passionate about exploring new material and laboratory possibilities, and can drive strategic focus across technical initiatives. As Technical Director, you will have a direct impact on the company's future by guiding teams in the development of groundbreaking products and continuous process improvements, with a focus on powders, dispersions, emulsions, polymers, and other advanced materials.
Responsibilities
  • Lead critical R&D initiatives, aligning projects with business goals to drive growth. Develop research programs incorporating the latest scientific advancements, improve existing products, and evaluate new raw materials and technologies to enhance performance and maintain a competitive edge.

  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and other departments to align technical advancements with market needs. Assess materials, processes, and equipment to optimize product development and production efficiency.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by training, mentoring, and guiding team members. Provide performance feedback, assign projects, and ensure high standards of efficiency, quality, and accountability within the global technical team.

  • Accurately document all phases of R&D projects, ensuring transparency and adherence to industry standards and regulations.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, providing exceptional service, product testing, and site visits. Collaborate with the QC team to optimize product specifications and ensure profitability.

  • Represent the company at industry events, sharing insights and research. Study and monitor trends and advancements in the field to inform internal projects and strategy.

  • Organize and oversee the technical team, ensuring effective recruitment, retention, and professional development. Manage laboratory budgets and resources to support project goals.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A Master's or PhD degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field is REQUIRED.
  • 5+ years of experience synthesizing additives, polymers, release agents, or chemical formulation.
  • Required, with a strong focus on polymers and chemical formulation.
  • 5+ years of management experience preferred
  • Willing to work in a general laboratory environment.
  • Required to wear PPE and complete safety training.
  • Able to stand/sit for extended periods of time, may include bending/stooping.
