Overview:
Reporting directly to the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Marketing Specialist (Marketer I) role oversees and executes marketing activities for the Caine College of the Arts (CCA), focusing on department-level events and awareness campaigns. This includes initiatives for Art + Design, Music, and Theatre Arts departments, as well as affiliated programs and clubs, such as the Lyric Repertory Theatre. At times, this position supports greater college-level initiatives when needed.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate continuous improvement in marketing skills, oversee departmental tasks, including those of other marketing staff and student workers, and be receptive to guidance from the Director. Timely project completion, organized operations, and a customer-focused, professional demeanor in interactions with stakeholders are essential.
Responsibilities:40% Campaign Maintenance
- Track the Master List of Events for marketing, including the organization, setup, and assignment of all tasks to complete campaigns.
- Create and track all department-level marketing projects on the traditional schedule, maintaining and overseeing each task to ensure completion and timeliness.
- Work directly with event contacts and partners to communicate the tasks and efforts of the campaign, ensure the vision of marketing the event is met, and inform partners on the timing of tasks and campaign completion.
- Work with other marketing teams and employees, including graphic designers and student workers, to align on marketing tasks, timing, and coordinated efforts for efficient marketing campaign execution.
20% Marketing Assessment
- Record digital and engagement data from department-level campaigns.
- Create reports of each campaign and long-term marketing activity.
- Utilize assessments to create a performance analysis as needed.
- Use assessments and data to propose new ideas and direction in department-level marketing.
- Provide assessment breakdowns to event contacts.
- Make suggestions to contacts of new events using previous data and assessments.
20% Cost Tracking & Evaluation
- Track and record proposed cost estimates for department-level marketing projects on the traditional schedule.
- Include costs in marketing assessments to analyze effectiveness of money spent on campaign efforts.
- Provide cost estimates and cost invoices to event contacts.
- Submit marketing costs for payment.
10% Market Research & Planning
- Analyze and propose improvements to the marketing process using previous experiences and efficiencies with marketing campaigns.
- Think creatively and develop new ideas for promoting across departments.
- Use direct experience with department-level campaigns to brainstorm new college-wide marketing and communication efforts and projects.
- Use marketing assessments and data to propose new ideas for marketing efforts, especially for department-level events.
- Evaluate marketing efforts, including comparison to similar services, gathering information to support marketing decisions, and other research or planning tasks as assigned.
10% Overall Marketing Support
- Assist with large marketing campaigns including asset delivery, pitches to new partners for sponsorship, setup of promotional displays, on-location promotion at outside venues, promotion to potential students or community involvement, or other efforts as invited by the Director of Marketing & Communications.
- Assist organizing or executing tasks for college-level marketing campaigns as assigned.
- Work with other employees to create marketing communications targeting audiences for department-level events and campaigns through the traditional schedule.
- Support other functions such as communication or project coordination efforts as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field obtained, or on track to obtain within the first year of hire.
- Experience overseeing and executing marketing project tasks.
- Experience assembling marketing campaigns or projects.
- Experience tracking results of marketing projects or tasks.
- Experience compiling information supporting marketing campaigns or projects.
- Thorough knowledge of working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and OneDrive.
- Experience recording project assessment data demonstrating results of efforts or assets used.
- Experience working with third parties for asset delivery, generating cross promotion, or other marketing-supportive services.
- Experience working with contacts to update project information.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate with partners or associates to execute or align on project tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience and familiarity working with a project management/tracking system (i.e. Clickup, Asana, Basecamp, Trello, etc.)
- Experience with alternate office tools such as Numbers, Google Forms, Google Sheets, etc.
- Experience working on projectspreferably in marketingwith the arts or with USU.
- Understanding of additional marketing-supportive skills such as photography, video, communications writing, etc.
- Experience recording or submitting payments or financial information.
