The Email Marketing Manager is an integral role working within the Marketing and Communications department. As JBF continues to scale its programs and events, provide education, training, and resources to food and beverage professionals, and push for a more sustainable and equitable industry, our work to promote our cause has never been more critical.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing, the Email Marketing Manager will be responsible for overseeing the strategy and execution of our email marketing program including newsletters, dedicated emails, sponsored campaigns, drip campaigns, digital fundraising campaigns, email segmentation, automation, and personalization. This role includes full ownership of the channel strategy, calendar planning, briefing, creative review, reporting, and analytics. You will be responsible for developing and executing data-driven email marketing strategies that drive industry, consumer, and donor acquisition, engagement, and retention, with a strong focus on revenue generation and conversion optimization. You will be tasked with optimizing performance, identifying new opportunities, and ensuring alignment with our overall Brand Strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive email marketing strategy aligned with overall organizational goals and revenue targets
- Lead the creation, optimization, execution, and auditing of emails across the audience lifecycle, including acquisition, engagement, and retention
- Manage end-to-end execution of email campaigns, including HTML build, editing, QA, deployment, and reporting, considering dynamic messaging and personalization
- Build out relevant triggered email programs based on behavior data
- Collaborate with cross-organizational teams, including sponsorship, programs, awards, events, properties, development, and other functions to ensure a cohesive audience experience that drives our organization’s work
- Partner with sponsorship team to integrate brand partner content effectively
- Ensure all marketing materials comply with brand standards and legal requirements
- Maintain consistency of messaging across all channels, ensuring alignment with website and social media content
- Perform end-to-end quality checks, including content accuracy, links, landing page functionality, and segmentation
- Partner with the CRM team to refine audience segmentation and conduct testing to optimize email performance
- Use database management skills to segment our audiences for email targeting
- Analyze performance metrics and produce regular reports detailing key insights and areas for improvement
- Conduct continuous A/B testing and experimentation to improve email performance and drive conversion rates
- Utilize data-driven strategies to optimize open rates, click-through rates, and overall subscriber engagement
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of newsletter/email marketing trends and best practices
- Manage internal email calendar and channel strategy
- Act as the subject matter expert for all email communications, training and educating others on how to improve our email communication
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in digital and email marketing
- Expertise in email content strategy and the ability to articulate a clear vision for email marketing initiatives
- Proven track record of managing successful email marketing campaigns and newsletter programs
- Proficiency with CRM, email marketing software and tools (Salesforce, Pardot)
- Extensive experience with A/B testing, segmentation, and personalization strategies
- Expert understanding of CAN-SPAM and email regulatory compliance
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Creative mindset with a keen eye for detail and design
- Proven project management skills, and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
