Job Summary/Description:
KALB-TV has an immediate opening for a Chief Photographer position in Alexandria, LA. This is a rare opportunity to lead a team in a creative and innovative newsroom.
This is a working chief position including both managerial time and field photojournalism. We need someone with a creative eye, technical expertise, and a can-do attitude. You'll also need to understand the importance of visual composition, natural sound, and quality lighting. The successful candidate must be able to pass their knowledge along to the rest of the team through training. In addition to shooting news stories and training staff, our chief will manage our fleet, gear, and other operational duties as assigned.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Photojournalism storytelling
* Oversee video & editing training
* Help MMJs with live shots
* Manage fleet & gear
Qualifications/Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in journalism and/or communications, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
* Proven experience as a video storyteller with strong camera and editing skills
* Experience with Edius and field gear preferred
* A demo reel is required
* Ability to prioritize and address multiple projects with varying production timelines
* Must be a great team builder and leader
* Must be a highly motivated self-starter, able to work well alone and as part of a team
