Senior Roadway Designer

We are seeking a skilled Senior Roadway Designer to join our team. This position is ideal for an experienced roadway designer with a strong background in Civil 3D and a solid understanding of roadway design processes. As a Senior Roadway Designer, you will take the lead on design tasks, supervise junior design staff, and provide mentorship and training to develop our team's expertise.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:
- Leading the overall design process for assigned projects.
- Performing complex roadway design functions, contributing technical expertise to infrastructure and transportation projects.
- Supervising, mentoring, training, and providing guidance to junior design staff to build and enhance team capability.
- Coordinating design efforts with engineers and other technical staff to ensure compliance with project requirements, schedules, and budgets.
- Reviewing and approve design drawings, calculations, and specifications.
- Establishing and implementing quality control procedures for design deliverables.
- Coordinating with the CAD Systems Manager and Chief Engineers contributing to the development of standards and creating a uniform sample Highway Plan Set.
- Updating and maintaining Civil 3D templates, including refining layers, plot styles, and curb ramp label styles, ensuring transportation project templates align with standards and requirements.
- Designing and implementing structures, pipe styles, and label styles within utility coordination templates to support clear symbology for various utilities, enhancing consistency across all project documentation.
- Contributes to the development and organization of a CAD resource library, including Lisp routines, erosion control blocks, and a sign library to streamline design tasks and increase productivity.
- Serving as a subject matter expert in design principles and practices.
- May perform other duties associated with this role.
Qualifications for this role:
- Associate's degree in related field or equivalent training and experience.
- Advanced expertise with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Extensive and progressive experience in roadway design, including complex design functions.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and Adobe/Bluebeam PDF Software.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Advanced working knowledge of construction practices.
- A working knowledge of construction materials.
- Advanced knowledge of current relevant standards and specification procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
