The Vice President of Marketing reports directly to the Chief Development Officer. The Vice President of Marketing is responsible for all activities related to conceptualizing and implementing marketing strategy to increase engagement and support for United Way of the Midlands and its direct service brands including 211, Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG Nebraska), the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) and others. Specific responsibilities include setting brand standards, planning and maintaining the marketing budget and leading the marketing team ensuring all marketing communications are coordinated and support UWM's strategic plan objectives.
Responsibilities:
Develops and implements cohesive marketing plans to increase brand awareness and support of United Way of the Midlands and its direct service brands including 211, JAG Nebraska, WAP, and others. Leverages United Way Worldwide brand standards and UWM donor profiles to develop compelling, impactful and cohesive creative to attract and retain donors. Works closely with the Chief Strategy Officer to develop copy and stories about UWM's work and support PR/media strategy. Researches and analyzes the human services landscape understanding and communicating UWM's unique value proposition Provides input and support to leadership in the development of new programs and partnerships Prepares regular reports and presentations on marketing metrics for the CEO and senior leadership. Establishes and prioritizes marketing projects and allocates resources accordingly. Provides guidance and ideas to organize effective special events. Oversees all digital strategy including social media and web design. Supports UWM campaign efforts providing marketing and campaign materials. Develops and manages marketing budgets and expenditures. Supervisory Responsibilities:
Builds, leads, and mentors a team of marketing professionals. Interviews, hires, and trains staff in the department. Oversees the daily workflow of the department. Conducts timely and constructive performance evaluations. Required Skills and Abilities:
Experience and ability to manage relationships with Board members and external advisors. Knowledge of non-profit accounting, including fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting. Experience in enhancing and/or developing and implementing human resources policies and procedures that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization (employee relations, training, employment, recruitment, retention, and affirmative action), and legal compliance. Mission-focused, strategic-minded, and relationship-oriented. Ability to communicate in a cross-functional way to identify non-typical partnership opportunities between business and non-profit entities. Ability to develop and motivate teams. Strategic thinking and long-term planning. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (required) from a four-year accredited college or university required; MBA preferred. 7-10 years related experience in strategic marketing, re-branding, communications, sales support, public relations, branding and social media. At least five (5) years of supervision experience including leading a marketing and communications team composed of graphic design, social media, events, and public relations while participating as a member of the senior team to help guide the strategic direction of an organization. Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
