Production: Live Worship Video Director

Come and join the Production team of Lutheran Church of Hope, one of the fastest growing churches in the country, to video direct worship services and maintain video systems at our broadcast campus. We are a multi-site church broadcasting 5 lives services each weekend. A person skilled in troubleshooting advanced video systems, directing a live shoot, and developing volunteers will thrive in this role. 

You will be successful in this role if you can: 

  • Direct camera operators (stationary, wireless, Jib, dolly) to desired shots while cutting a live event. 
  • Troubleshoot video equipment (Hitachi 550 cameras, Ross video switcher) when issues arise. 
  • Lead, train, and develop volunteers to utilize video related equipment. 
  • Collaborate with other staff to set video vision and create engaging experiences. 
  • Able to think quickly on your feet. 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with campus production staff in the preparation and planning for live video elements of any services or event. 
  • Participate in the weekly Worship Service Review meetings. Incorporate lessons learned and communicate well with those you lead (volunteers and staff). 
  • Recruit, train, coach, and schedule volunteer production teams, which include Camera, Shader, Technical Director, Directors, and Graphics Operators. 
  • Execute and manage live video elements and lead production volunteers during services and events. 
  • Capture, edit and post service recordings; manage archival processes of these assets. 
  • Manage and perform scheduled maintenance for video equipment. 
  • Configure and maintain ProPresenter and ProVideoPlayer outputs and templates. 
  • Partner with the Central Production team for technical needs or campus projects. 
  • Partner with Central Video Systems Engineer to uphold standards and maintain campus equipment and workflows. 
  • Supervise, inspire, and equip video staff, including 1-1 meetings, conflict resolution, development; meeting with ministries partners to gather feedback. 
  • Adhere to the Lutheran Church of Hope Staff Covenant. 

Skills, Education and Experience Required:

  • 2+ years’ experience in a similar video director role in a multi-camera environment. 
  • Knowledge and ability to operate technical gear including video switchers, cameras, recording gear, and digital video equipment. 
  • General knowledge of live production, including video, audio, lighting, multimedia, music, and staging. 
  • 2+ years of experience with technical equipment preventative maintenance and troubleshooting. Understand and troubleshoot a HD/SD-SDI broadcast video system. 
  • Basic knowledge of video editing software (Adobe Premiere/Final Cut Pro) and church video graphics software (Pro Presenter and Pro Video Player). 
  • Strong team building and leadership skills. Experience leading and supervising video team – staff and volunteers. 
  • Ability to manage projects and meet deadlines in a project-based environment. 
  • Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective devices. Work involves normal activity of walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling and lifting weights up to 50 pounds. Must also be able to climb ladders and work at heights of 40’ or more on catwalks or work platforms. 

Hours:

  • Full time, salary
  • Requires evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Typical Work Schedule: Saturday-Wednesday, including Worship services on Saturdays and Sundays, rehearsal Tuesday evenings, Student Ministry on Wednesday evenings, and occasional other evenings for special events.

Pay: Commensurate with position and experience, based upon National Wage Survey(s) of Comparative Churches
