Technical Writer
Zeno is seeking a highly motivated Technical Writer to support our Engineering, Project Management and broader team in creating and editing technical documents.
In this role you will:
- Review and proofread technical documents to ensure clarity, consistency, and compliance with internal and external standards.
- Write and edit technical documents including specifications, engineering reports, design review reports, manuals, procedures, proposals, etc.
- Write and edit procedural documentation such as user guidelines and instructions.
- Determine the type of document and format that will best serve the project requirements.
- Manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and documentation is delivered on time.
- Work closely with engineering and project managers to understand technical specifications and processes.
- Research technical work examples to aid in technical writing of Zeno work products.
- Assess the audience needs for whom the technical and procedural documentation is intended; adjust tone and technical terms used to meet those needs and to ensure understanding.
- Plan writing processes and set timelines and deadlines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelors degree in English, Technical Writing, or related field required.
- 3+ years of experience as a Technical Writer within an engineering or technical environment required.
- Ability to translate complex technical jargon into clear and concise content.
- Strong project management skills and ability to work with tight deadlines.
- Experience using Confluence or Jira is a plus.
- Experience supporting technical proposal writing is a plus.
Job Functions
- Motor Abilities: Sitting/standing for extended periods, gripping, fine motor control (hands).
- Physical requirements: Ability to safely lift up to 15 pounds.
- Special Senses: Visual and audio.
- Work Conditions: Typing, standing/sitting working environment of >8 hr/day.
- Travel: Travel is not required for this role.
- Location: Seattle, WA.
- Work Schedule: Hybrid - Monday/Friday option to WFH, Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday attendance in our South Lake Union office in Seattle, WA is required.
Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated hourly rate for this contracted role is $30-$60/hr. The final rate is determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, years of relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and certifications.
