Position Overview:
RealNetworks seeks a Technical Writer for SAFR SCAN and SAFR Camera, a revolutionary touchless access control device that uses your face to verify your identity. This is a unique opportunity to join a cutting-edge global company with a track-record of market-leading innovation.
This Technical Writer will leverage a love for tech and customer focus to deliver high-quality, well-organized documentation that enables our customers to easily use SAFR SCAN hardware with server and client applications to deploy AI-powered facial recognition access control solutions. We are in search of a difference maker who can speak the language of our brilliant and dedicated development team and translate complex technical information into comprehensive and easy to use documentation for audiences ranging from integrators to end users. This is an ideal role for a self-starter who craves a faced-paced and collaborative environment, accustomed to delivering results with minimal supervision.
For project purposes and in line with the hybrid work mode, the candidate for this position should be situated in the Seattle area. Budget for this position is 70.000,00-75.000,00 USD/per year.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Transforming highly technical content into easily digestible documents such as installation guides, how-to and FAQs, administration documents, and related collateral supporting the SAFR Platform;
- Applying customer focus to independently test software in order to understand how SAFR works, to validate procedures, and contribute to the usability and customer experience;
- Occasionally participate in customer support meeting to see and feel how the customer interacts with our software and experience the issued face by our users;
- Apply best practices and expertise to provide recommendations for improving document presentation and publishing.
Candidates must have outstanding writing and editing skills and portfolio of previous work, demonstrating:
- Extensive experience with a variety of documentation authoring and publishing tools;
- Exceptional communication skills, and the ability to efficiently and effectively communicate with team members at varying levels of technical proficiency who reside in different geographies;
- Resourcefulness in researching and obtaining information from subject matter experts, both internally and externally;
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and remain flexible in the face of shifting priorities, responsibilities, and requirements;
- Ability to learn and master new technical subject matter quickly;
- Purposeful drive to build the world’s most trusted FR platform, including fundamental assent to our Guiding Principles;
- Familiarity with Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android.
A successful candidate for this role must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields (or related discipline):
- Technical communication
- English, Journalism, or Writing (with a focus on technical writing)
- Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
- Information Systems, Information Technology, or Engineering - 4+ years’ experience as a technical writer
- Excellent written and verbal communication and technology skills
- Additional Skills/Experience (optional):
- Experience with API documentation
- Physical Access Control Systems (Access readers and badges, and control panels)
- Video Management Systems (VMS)
- IP Network Cameras - Experience with GIT or other version control system
