Departmental Overview
The Library comprises 20 campus libraries, with a collection of nearly 13 million circulating volumes, almost 1.5 million e-books, subscriptions to over 130,000 journals and periodicals, and about 200 million items in its special collections. The UC Berkeley Library actively partners with the other nine UC campuses and the systemwide California Digital Library.
Position Summary
The Library of the University of California, Berkeley seeks a creative, collaborative, and diligent individual to improve the Library's electronic resource licensing management and license discoverability. The Licensing Specialist will support licensing review and processes for the Library's electronic resources and develop protocols for a license tracking management system.

Responsibilities
- Maintaining licensing terms checklist and negotiation guidance.
- Conferring with publishers and eResources vendors as needed.
- Analyzing licensing renewal processes and recommending new practices.
- Assessing processes and developing guidelines for consistency.
- Identifying processes for managing incoming and currently-negotiated licenses.
- Developing guidelines and implementation plan for Alma resource management platform.
- Documenting methodology for license tracking and management system.
- Coordinating with other UC campuses and the California Digital Library.
- Conducting post-implementation analysis for enhancements.
- Researching best practices for e-resource licensing.
Required Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of contracts and legal issues in electronic resource licensing.
- Current understanding of best practices for electronic resource licensing.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Analytical/problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Salary & Benefits
This is a full-time exempt career position, eligible for UC Benefits. The budgeted annual salary is $72,600.00 - $100,800.00.
