JOB DESCRIPTION: A full-time, nine-month tenure-track appointment. The primary assignment includes (a) undergraduate instruction in Music Education, including choral music methods, vocal pedagogy, and introductory music education courses, as needed; (b) graduate instruction in Music Education, including foundations and research courses, as needed, and advanced courses in an area of expertise, (c) student teaching supervision, (d) potential academic advising/mentoring of music education majors, and (e) potential to conduct a choral ensemble. The candidate will be expected to establish and maintain a professional profile through publication, presentation, scholarship, and/or research/creative activity. Participation in School of Music activities, attracting and retaining students through community/public school engagement, and faculty governance is required. Additional teaching responsibilities may be assigned according to the School of Music's needs and the candidate's abilities. Active participation in professional organizations in the field is expected.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Music Education or closely-related field, and coursework toward a doctorate in music education or closely-related field are required. We invite candidates who have (a) at least three years of teaching excellence in choral music at the elementary and/or secondary level, (b) curriculum delivery that prepares students in a variety of 21st-century traditional, popular, and/or non-Western choral settings, (c) innovative, engaging, and culturally sustaining teaching and musicianship surrounding contemporary issues related to music teaching and learning, (d) attention to detail and organizational skills, (e) an ability to work with K-12 personnel as a clinician and professional development resource, (f) a record of, or potential for, research and publication in the field. The School of Music seeks a candidate who will demonstrate exemplary communication skills and ability to contribute to the intellectual and cultural life of the University.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Earned Doctorate in Music Education or related field. Successful college teaching experience. Evidence of collaborative relationships with K-12 teachers. Experience with non- Western and/or popular styles of music. Quantitative research experience.
