Role Description This is a full-time role for a Geographic Information Systems Analyst. The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst will conduct studies and create maps primarily supporting solar glint and glare analysis and electromagnetic spectrum analysis. The GIS Analyst will additionally support aeronautical analysis studies and advocacy products. The role is located in Alexandria, VA, and is initially full-time on-site. After completing an onboarding and training period, the analyst is eligible for a hybrid in-office/remote work schedule.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, or related field At least two years professional work experience Experience using GIS Applications, with an emphasis on QGIS and ESRI ArcMap Experience with database queries Demonstrable analytical skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Additional Qualifications that will make a stronger candidate Experience processing and analyzing LiDAR point clouds, including filtering, classification, and extraction of features Master's degree in GIS or a related field Knowledge of Python or other coding languages Experience with scripting or model building as related to GIS applications Experience with PostgreSQL and PostGIS Experience or interest in aviation, airspace, air traffic control operations, or FAA regulations Experience or interest in radio, broadcasting, or other electromagnetic spectrum applications Experience in the solar energy industry
