KEY PURPOSE:
Shoptalk is on the hunt for an exceptional Head of Content, USA to spearhead our North America-based content team across two industry-leading events: Shoptalk Spring and Shoptalk Fall. We're looking for a trailblazer who will lead the strategic development and execution of our agendas and curate a stellar lineup of speakers from a diverse global landscape of retail and e-commerce organizations.
This visionary leader will oversee a team of four, orchestrating groundbreaking conversations and unforgettable experiences that will shape the industry's future. As the senior content leader within the Shoptalk team, you'll report directly to the SVP of Shoptalk, and play a pivotal role in our decision-making, representing the voice of the retail industry.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As the Head of Content, you will be:
- Playing a key role in strategic discussions regarding the future direction of Shoptalk, as well as identifying opportunities to enhance our ability to deliver for our customers, including through new product development initiatives.
- Conducting comprehensive research, analysis, and strategic planning to determine agenda topics, ensuring Shoptalk maintains a pioneering position in thought leadership for the retail and ecommerce industries, serving as a catalyst for transformative change and development.
- Crafting detailed descriptions for tracks and sessions, reflecting a nuanced understanding of industry trends and audience expectations.
- Spearheading the identification and recruitment of a multitude of senior-level speakers from major brands, retailers, venture-backed startups, tech companies, investors, and consulting firms for Shoptalk Spring and Shoptalk Fall.
- Leading discussions with speakers and moderators to shape the narrative of each event, ensuring every session delivers substantial value to our audience.
- Providing strategic feedback on speakers' presentations to elevate the quality and value delivered to our audience.
- Being a visible, articulate face of the brand, both within the shows and outside them (podcasts, external speaking engagements etc). Conducting on-stage interviews and delivering impactful remarks or presentations as needed, contributing to the overall excellence of the event experience
- Providing strategic guidance and feedback for Shoptalk Original Content developed and delivered on stage (themes, script and slides), including the Retail Zeitgeist
- Collaborating seamlessly with various teams at Shoptalk, including sponsorship, marketing, design, and event logistics, to guarantee a world-class experience for all event attendees.
- Proactively contributing wherever necessary to create an exceptional experience for speakers and attendees across the Shoptalk portfolio.
- While not accountable for Shoptalk Europe KPIs or delivery, working in a consultative manner with the STE team to ensure alignment within the brand and uphold a high standard of excellence in the content program.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
To be successful in this role, you must have/be:
- A minimum of 10 years of work experience
- Proven leadership in the retail or ecommerce industry, acquired through roles in brands, retailers, startups, consulting firms, research organizations, or media outlets.
- The ability to swiftly analyze and distill intricate industry information.
- Confidence in engaging with and communicating effectively with senior leaders in brands and retailers.
- Extensive experience presenting or speaking in front of large and influential audiences.
- A profound curiosity about the ongoing transformations in the retail landscape.
- Self-motivation, a proactive approach to new challenges, and adept multitasking skills within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- The salary band for this position ranges from $180,000 – $200,000 based on experience
- This position will be eligible for a competitive bonus
