Job Description

Summary:

The Director, Creative is a role responsible for helping to establish and guide the creative for a Brand. The successful candidate will need both creative and business acumen to partner with internal and external teams to facilitate and execute the highest quality products and opportunities. The Director, Creative will lead, concept, and execute global creative strategy and creative tools for Franchises as assigned. They will also shape the tone and vision of any given brand. 

  • Develops campaigns and tools that unlock business and brand, ensuring exceptional creative quality across any given Franchise ecosystem.
  • As a Franchise shepherd, ensures ownership of projects from start to finish
  • Go-to brand expert in the characters/stories/content of NBCU entities
  • Oversees deliverables, including: style guides, asset packs and seasonal deliveries to align with business priorities, packaging and retail guidelines and subsequent approvals
  • Ensures that design projects align with brand guidelines, maintaining brand consistency across all touchpoints
  • Develops and maintains design standards and guidelines, ensuring consistency across design project and deliverables.
  • Ensures best in class processes and fiscal responsibility across the team and organization. 
  • A people and projects leader. Looking for a seasoned people manager who can lead direct and indirect reports. 
  • Influences and inspires executives, leaders, and teams - both external and internal - across the organization. 
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to understand feedback and incorporate design principles into the design process.
  • Cultivates effective senior level relationships with key internal and external executives
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including studio and character art group to ensure cohesive concept and storyline
  • Provides mentoring and coaching to team members
  • Curates knowledge of global market landscape and evolving industry trends
  • Drives new ideas on partnerships and turnkey creative solutions
  • Promotes collaboration, innovation, and problem-solving
  • Contributes to the advancement of Universal’s diversity, equity, and inclusion commitments.

Salary range: $130,000 - $170,000 (Bonus Eligible)

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience working as a graphic designer (2 in a manager capacity) developing creative programs, with a focus on strategy and brand positioning
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. A confident and seasoned creative storyteller
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
  • Best in class diversified portfolio. High level design expert with impeccable knowledge of craft
  • Optimistic, with a love for creativity and partnership
  • Has long term and productive relationships across entertainment and creative industries
  • Expert level proficiency in Adobe CS, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Keynote
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Additional Requirements:

  • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
