Summary
The Sales Director is responsible for the overall leadership of the sales organization in the United States and Canada. This role oversees the strategic direction and execution of revenue growth objectives, market share expansion, and operational excellence. The Sales Director plays a critical role in driving top-line growth through the development and implementation of regional sales strategies, optimizing processes, and building strong customer relationships. This position requires collaboration across departments such as Sales Operations, Marketing, Product Management, and Finance to achieve overall business objectives.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and Execute Sales Strategy: Lead the formulation and execution of regional sales strategies and initiatives to achieve company-wide revenue and growth targets.
- Revenue and Profitability Management: Oversee sales performance, ensure cost control, and protect margins by managing pricing, discounting policies, and contract negotiations.
- Sales Team Leadership: Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to the regional sales team, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Market and Customer Insights: Monitor and assess market dynamics, customer needs, and competitive activities. Adapt sales strategies accordingly to capitalize on market opportunities.
- Sales Operations: Collaborate with Sales Operations to implement sales performance metrics, tools, and processes to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and reporting.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product Management, Application Management, and Customer Service to ensure smooth order fulfillment, post-sales service, and customer satisfaction.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual sales planning process, including sales forecasting, budgeting, and resource allocation, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
- Staff Development and Recruitment: Manage the hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development of sales personnel, ensuring the team is high-performing and engaged.
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM): Ensure daily use of CRM (e.g., Salesforce) to track leads, manage customer data, and produce actionable sales analytics and forecasts.
- Compliance and Ethics: Uphold corporate standards and ensure strict adherence to company policies, including those related to ethics, travel, export controls, and CRM usage.
- Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, environmental impact, product quality, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, preferably in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 12 years of sales experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience in B2B sales, preferably in the software and technology sector working with CT.
Skills:
- Proven track record of achieving revenue targets and driving business growth.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities with experience in hiring, developing, and motivating sales professionals.
- Expertise in Salesforce or a similar CRM system.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Technical Aptitude: Experience or familiarity with CT software or a related technical product is preferred.
- Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time within the region.
