We currently have an opening for a Marketing Manager to lead marketing initiatives for Village at Shirlington and Westpost, as well as oversee social media and digital efforts for the Virginia portfolio. Based in the Shirlington office, this role requires a hands-on, on-site presence to drive marketing strategies and sponsorship opportunities for the Arlington properties. This creative and results-oriented individual will develop engaging content, cultivate sponsorship revenue, and collaborate closely with the Senior Marketing Director on portfolio-wide projects. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter with an extensive background in social media, sponsorship, and digital marketing, ready to build meaningful relationships with merchants and deliver impactful campaigns. While the role involves occasional travel to other northern and central Virginia properties, it primarily operates out of the Shirlington office, with the flexibility for remote work one day per week.
ResponsibilitiesStrategic Marketing for Westpost and Village at Shirlington
- Develop and execute marketing plans with data-driven marketing initiatives that align with property goals, enhance tenant performance, and increase customer engagement.
- Manage marketing budgets effectively, ensuring alignment with property goals and maximizing ROI.
- Nurture and strengthen key tenant relationships with existing and new tenants (including tenant opening support), learn first-hand how they define their success and what drives their business. Build strong relationships at store and corporate levels.
Social Media Management
- Develop and execute creative, engaging social media campaigns for assigned properties, tailoring each campaign to the specific property. This includes creating video reels and short-form content that showcase the shopping center, its merchants, and/or the community.
- Travel to assigned properties regularly to gather authentic, visually compelling content and build relationships with merchants to ensure accurate representation of their businesses.
- Monitor social media trends, analytics, and insights to optimize content and increase audience growth and engagement.
- Manage social media calendars, ensuring all content aligns with strategic goals for merchant promotions, property initiatives and leasing efforts.
- Respond to audience interactions, fostering an engaged online community.
Sponsorship Development for Westpost and Village at Shirlington
- Develop and secure strategic, revenue-generating sponsorships and creative partnerships that deliver measurable benefits to the property, region, and overall company objectives.
- Collaborate with sponsors to develop mutually beneficial campaigns and on-site activations.
- Maintain relationships with sponsors, ensuring fulfillment of agreed deliverables and seamless execution of promotional activities.
- Track sponsorship performance and provide detailed reporting to measure success and inform future strategies.
Digital Marketing and Web Management
- Oversee updates to assigned property websites, ensuring content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with brand messaging.
- Create and distribute regular e-newsletters to promote the shopping centers, merchants, and upcoming events.
- Collaborate with merchants to gather content for digital campaigns that amplify their businesses and drive customer engagement.
- Monitor and respond to online reviews on digital platforms to maintain a positive brand reputation and address customer feedback promptly.
- Analyze digital marketing performance metrics, using data to refine strategies for optimal results.
Event Coordination
- Collaborate with the senior marketing director to plan and execute events that drive traffic to shopping centers, promote merchants, enhance community engagement, and provide sponsorship opportunities.
- Work closely with the senior marketing director to manage event logistics, sponsorships, and promotional campaigns.
- Leverage digital channels, including social media and e-newsletters, to maximize event visibility, participation, and sponsorship.
- Provide on-site support at events, ensuring smooth execution and sponsor satisfaction.
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
- 3+ years of experience in marketing development. Commercial real estate industry preferred.
- Proven track record of creating engaging content, including video reels, and growing social media accounts.
- Experience generating sponsorship revenue and cultivating creative partnerships.
- High proficiency with web content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp).
- Excellent communication and writing skills required.
- Ability to effectively interact with internal and external team members and contacts.
- Must have excellent organization skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment while successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Advanced skills in social media analytics tools.
- Must have strong strategic thinking, analytical, and creative decision-making skills.
- Ability to adjust to a flexible schedule, including commuting to various properties within the portfolio to support marketing efforts.
- Must be available for evening and weekend events as well as overnight travel.
- Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and video editing software is a plus
- Have flexibility and the ability to work nights and weekends as required when marketing events require preparation or attendance.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds and participate in event set up as needed.
