JOB SUMMARY
The Social Media Specialist, (SMS) reports to and is a key partner to the marketing communications specialist. The SMS will develop and execute social media strategies in alignment with brand and growth objectives of Nueske’s Applewood Smoked Meats. This role supports our retail, mail order and wholesale divisions as well as our Human Resource team, requiring a passion to engage and contribute at multiple levels throughout the organization. This role suits an inquisitive and creative thinker with excellent communication skills, advanced skills in graphic and video design and deep knowledge of social media.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
- Develop and implement social media strategy to support the overall marketing objectives across all three divisions and Human Resources as agreed upon with the marketing communications specialist.
- Create and manage the social media calendar. Ensures that strategic planning and tactical responsibilities are executed as planned.
- Responsible for editorial direction, design, production, and execution of social media content on all social media platforms.
- Develop and complete artwork for syndication on social channels including illustrated graphics, photography, and video.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely, consistent messaging and brand integrity across all social media platforms.
- Engages with social audience and responds to comments and messages and researches and leverages user generated content.
- Can drive social media participation with current and new followers.
- Stays current on social media trends, customer preferences and marketing communications best practices to improve current process and messaging effectiveness.
- Establishes social strategy KPIs, goals and objectives and regularly monitors performance.
- Reports out performance of social media and makes decisions about which content to continue, change or end based on metrics and insights.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Creative thinker with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Successful experience in social media strategy and communication, food industry is a plus.
- Strong understanding of best use practices for social media networks including Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube.
- Solid experience in graphic design, photography and video creation and editing.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and marketing software/tools including Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Google Analytics.
- High level of analytical skill and interest in metrics and reporting.
- Knowledge of SEO and content marketing principles, familiarity with web design and development, and experience in paid social and digital marketing are a plus.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Naturally inquisitive and embraces the connection between relationships, company knowledge and effective marketing communications.
- Considers the past and current state as important, but equally inspired by change.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate or bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field.
