Amazon is hiring: UX DESIGNER in Seattle

Amazon, Seattle, WA, United States, 98127

Job ID: 2840503 | Amazon.com Services LLC

Amazon Alexa is one of the world's most utilized and beloved assistants. At Alexa, we are focused on building the world's best personal assistant, leveraging the latest advancements in AI technologies. You will have the opportunity to impact the customer experience, design, and implementation of cutting-edge products and features. We’re looking for people who are passionate about innovating on behalf of customers, demonstrate a high degree of ownership, and want to have fun and make history.

The Alexa Experiences & Services team is looking for a Senior User Experience Designer to work on Proactive Experiences as well as other exciting Alexa projects. The Alexa Proactivity designer will support the Alexa Customer Journeys team to enhance the customer’s experience by anticipating their needs or current context — and meet those needs with information, suggestions, and/or actions in the most appropriate interaction modalities and CX across multiple product surfaces.

This Senior UX Designer will work on cutting-edge Alexa features and revise existing features. You will create elegant, intuitive user interfaces that meet unique customer needs. You will work closely with other designers, researchers, product management, engineering, data science and operational teams to successfully go from early stage product concepts to iterations and launches of new features.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Create world-class, user-centered designs through consideration of customer research, business requirements, technical considerations, and usability study findings. These experiences will bridge voice, multimodal, web, and mobile applications.
  2. Collaborate directly with Conversation Designers and the Research team to ensure a consistent and delightful experience across all customer touch points.
  3. Partner with the Product Management team to translate business requirements into use cases and high-level customer experience requirements.
  4. Collaborate directly with Software Engineers to bring the resulting designs and vision to market.
  5. Develop conceptual diagrams, wireframes, visual mockups, and prototypes.
  6. Develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications.
  7. Present design work to the design team, product team, and leadership for review and feedback.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Ability to take complex concepts and quickly turn around detailed flows and mockups or prototypes reflecting a range of options.
  2. Ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously, and multi-task in an agile environment.
  3. Ability to communicate, present, and gracefully defend your team’s design decisions.
  4. Experience with multiple platforms and form factors, including phone, tablet, multi-modal, and wearables.
  5. Experience building voice-based products and services.
  6. Bachelor’s degree in Design or equivalent design-related field, or commensurate industry experience.

A day in the life

Each day, you will connect and collaborate with designers and researchers across the Alexa team. You’ll work directly with product managers to understand requirements, and develop design concepts that will be reviewed with leadership. You’ll also work with software teams to deliver detailed visual and interaction specifications. While the environment will be fast-paced, you’ll always be embedded in a supportive community of team members who are ready to provide feedback and support. Because we see an Amazonian's time as a scarce resource that must be respected, we'll help you defend your work/life balance and will actively support your professional growth.
