Job Description
Join a fun, tightknit, and highly functional team tasked with creating, reviewing, and publishing excellent written content. Our job is to inspire people around the world to engage in family history and help them make fun family connections.
Responsibilities
INTERESTS AND SKILLS TO BE DEVELOPED
Editorial Support. Edit article drafts and research topics as assigned to support blog articles and creatives. May write content as assigned.
SEO. Learn how to do keyword research to find high-use terms and phrases and use them to develop a content strategy for blog articles and landing pages.
Project Management. Take ownership of article projects, ensuring they move from ideation to editing, fact checking, review, and publication as needed. Prioritize content with deadlines.
Online Publishing Support. Help find images to support the blog and newsroom that follow the FamilySearch style guide. Put articles into the Brightspot publishing platform. Keep track of needful image copyright information for intellectual property reports and coordinate approvals and fixes.
Tracking and Reporting. Assist in maintaining needful documentation and filing systems required to support productive workflow and reporting.
Blog and Newsroom Support. Assist with team projects and other needs. May include developing, writing, editing, and preparing content for online publishing. May also include answering and managing comments. Help volunteers and service missionaries understand the purpose of the work they're doing and sense the meaningful nature of their contributions.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE:
Some experience with editing and/or writing
Strong interest in or knack for keyword research pursuant to online content creation
Experience with a WYSIWYG editor or CMS system a plus (Wordpress, Brightspot, etc.)
Experience with SEO analytic tools a plus (Adobe Analytics, Searchlight, SEMRush, Google Adwords, etc)
Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and previous image editing experience a plus
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's (or near completion) in Marketing, Editing, PR, Journalism, English or related field. Must be a current or recent (within a year) student.
JOB TYPE:
Internship. Full-time with health benefits.
DEPARTMENT:
Family History Department
Paid Interns are qualified while enrolled in an educational institution and for one year following graduation. They must sign a Paid Internship Engagement Letter.
