Job Summary
Performs Library skilled clerical tasks and support services. Provides direct assistance to the public at the circulation desk, organizes and scans library materials, and runs reports.
Essential Job Functions
Day-to-Day:
Experience Required: One (1) year of work experience providing direct customer service. One (1) year of previous library experience preferred.
Minimum Education Requirements: High School diploma or G.E.D.

Knowledge
Part-time, regular employees who work at least an average of 20 hours per week shall earn vacation leave on a pro-rata basis corresponding to actual hours worked in relation to a 40-hour workweek.
Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA):
Membership in PERA is automatic for non-elected public employees who meet minimum salary and position eligibility requirements set by Minnesota statute. Both the employee and the City contribute to the employee's PERA benefit.
City Paid Life Insurance - Mutual of Omaha
The City provides $50,000 in basic life insurance & AD&D at no cost.
Exempt employees are enrolled for $100,000 of coverage.
Employees have the option of purchasing additional life insurance for themselves, their spouses, and dependents.

Tuition Reimbursement
Regular full and part-time employees who have completed probation are eligible to apply for tuition reimbursement. The City will reimburse 100% of approved qualified education-related expenses for approved educational courses to an annual maximum of $5,250 per calendar year. All courses must be pre-approved by the Department Head and Administrative Services.
Public Student Loan Forgiveness
If you are employed by a U.S. federal, state, local, or tribal government or not-for-profit organization, you might be eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Job Summary

Essential Job Functions
Day-to-Day:
- Perform public reception and routine tasks at the circulation desk.
- Check materials in and out, processing items on hold, and notifying patrons of the status of their requests; utilize the library automation computer system.
- Collect patron fines; assess fines for damaged or lost materials.
- Collect fees for meeting rooms and copier use.
- Issue new, replacement, and non-resident library cards; register new patrons on the computer system.
- Organize the checkout desk daily; open and close cash register daily.
- Assist the public in the mechanical use of equipment as needed.
- Accept materials for bulletin boards and lost and found items.
- Answer direct phone calls and handle requests; provide public reception, give directions, and refer questions to appropriate staff.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of the library collection; maintain book carts, perform book cleaning, and coordinate repair and return of missing items.
- Perform tasks related to Reference/interlibrary loan services; receive book orders, determine status, route hold and damaged items.
- Utilize library automation system and other computer programs to create documents, templates, emails, and reports; create signs and displays for special projects.
- Monitor the library for unsafe situations and disruptive behavior.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
