The Collection Management Librarian participates in the intellectual life and administrative activities of the Blume Library and the University. This librarian coordinates efforts to develop, manage, maintain, and assess the print and electronic collections of the Blume Library, ensuring they are of appropriate size and align with the academic and research needs of the university. This is a professional librarian position without faculty status and non-tenure track.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs life cycle of collection activities by collaborating with other teams and departments to ensure current collections meet campus needs.
- Leads collection assessment, establishing policies and procedures, provides analyses on trends, usage patterns, and costs (subscription & expenditures), creating reports, and compiling statistics to effectively manage and guide acquisition and deselection of materials.
- Leads the development and implementation of the procedures for acquiring, evaluating, and managing library collections for physical and digital collections, while also actively contributing innovative ideas for strategic direction.
- Collaborates with subject librarian on resource selection, budget allocations, and strategy for supporting academic departments based on assessments and usage reports.
- Collaborates with subject librarians to evaluate and enhance the collection, providing training and mentorship regarding collection-related responsibilities.
- Oversees the acquisition of print and electronic resources, managing the acquisitions budget in collaboration with the Executive Director, tracking expenditures, and preparing financial reports to monitor allocated and expended funds.
- Supervises, evaluates, and guides the acquisitions staff.
- Utilizes vendor services and professional tools to evaluate, select, and purchase library materials (physical and digital), acting as the primary vendor contact and coordinating invoice processing and payments for library materials.
- Manages all aspects of library resource acquisitions, including ordering, receiving, and invoicing for materials across formats and order types (e.g., standing orders, subscriptions, donations).
- Reviews and evaluates patron and staff suggestions for new materials, ensuring collections are balanced with appropriate subject variety and formats suited to patron needs.
- Coordinates weeding projects with liaison librarians and library staff to maintain a relevant collection.
- Leads strategic planning for collections, including managing collection policies and collection-related projects.
- Collaborates with other library units to improve communication and workflows related to collection development and management.
- Stays informed of trends and developments in collection management and library resources.
- Provides research, learning, and engagement support to selected departments and programs including course- integrated instruction, collection development (tangible and digital formats), and research consultations; Provides direct research consultations (in-person and virtual) to students, faculty, staff, and community on a regular basis as part of the research and instruction team.
- Collaborates on initiatives, projects, pilots, and innovations that advance the Library's contributions to teaching and learning programs.
- Engages in and contributes to the profession through continuing learning, service, research, presentations, or professional communications.
- Participates in department and library-wide meetings, working collaboratively with colleagues to improve workflows and assess department performance; participates in library, university, and community organizations and committees as opportunities arise.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree from an ALA accredited institution (MLS, MLIS, or other advanced degree relative to position) required.
- 2 Years of professional experience working in an academic library or similar work preferred.
- Must clear and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance.
- Must have valid driver's license, motor vehicle liability insurance and personal injury insurance; or have a self-reliant source of transportation to conduct business daily.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; Strong public relations and customer service skills with an ability to implement diplomacy and discretion at all times; an ability to work effectively with communities across the university.
- Must have high ethical standards and a strong sense of confidentiality; ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines; thrive in a complex work environment; displays solid problem solving and interpersonal skills; works well independently and as part of a team.
- Must have a high attention to detail and be able to organize workflow, coordinate activities, balance simultaneous projects without loss of efficiency in a multi-tasked environment and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
- May be required to work more than 40 hours a week, depending on the event schedule.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with linking software and analytical tools to manage and analyze database and serials collections; thorough knowledge of library acquisitions, collection development, and technical services in an academic library including principles and best practices.
- Ability to make decisions in an environment of competing claims and limited resources.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with library information technology, systems, products and delivery technologies that support information literacy; OCLC, Sierra, LibGuides, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), social media platforms and web-based communication, information and collaboration tools.

- Bilingual Preferred (English/Spanish with the ability to understand and to make one's self understood to Spanish speaking individuals).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Working conditions are in an office environment and university campus setting. Must be able to move across the university campus to conduct day to day business.
- May sit for extended periods of time while assisting patrons.
- While performing this role, the employee will be regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; and use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; and occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Frequently communicates with others using approved technological resources; must be able to exchange accurate information through designated systems within a timely manner.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
