Requirements
Active DoD Secret clearance
Bachelor's degree in a field related to Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, Public Administration, Legislative Affairs, or a related field
10+ years of experience in strategic communications (DoD Public Affairs experience preferred)
Experience developing communications strategies and campaigns
Demonstrated proficiency in the development, coordination, and distribution of various communication deliverables (e.g., information papers, articles, statements, press releases, website content, social media posts)
Experience tracking project progress to plan from initiation through product delivery/publication
Ability to work effectively both individually and as a member of a team
Flexibility and willingness to work on all aspects of team priorities
Ability to work with a wide range of contributors, to include engineers, subject matter experts, functional teams, senior leadership, and external stakeholders
Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work within tight deadlines
Commitment to delivering high-quality products
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Familiarity with Department of Defense style guides
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
Desired Skills
Experience creating website content
Experience curating organizational social media
Experience working with the media
Familiarity with the DoD public release process
DoD Public Affairs experience strongly preferred
Journalism experience a plus
Congressional Staffer / Hill experience a plus
Graphic design experience a plus
Data visualization experience a plus
Description SRC is seeking a Public Affairs Communication Specialist to support our Department of Defense customer located in Alexandria, VA. The Communication Specialist will support the day-to-day operations of the strategic communications team. Some travel may be required. Duties may include the following:
Assist in development and implementation of communication strategies and campaigns
Craft communications products including information papers, articles, statements, and press releases
Create content for organizational websites and social media platforms
Support senior leader conference presentations and speaking engagements
Coordinate with stakeholders across the Department and in external organizations
Communicate with high level leadership on a consistent basis
Ensure organizational compliance with public affairs policies and procedures
