Position Summary

Intern position for the Spring 2025 semester. Performs assigned duties, responsibilities, and studies while participating in a formal marketing training program. This educational internship offers the opportunity to participate in various marketing projects. The Marketing Intern will work with our dynamic marketing team and gain hands-on experience in the exciting world of financial marketing. Employed on a part time basis, not to exceed 900 hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Event Coordination: Support the planning and execution of marketing events, from brainstorming ideas to managing logistics and post-event analysis, including:
    • Serve as event lead, managing all logistics such as guest list, event set-up/break-down, vendor/staff communication, etc.
    • Source venue, catering, vendors, etc.
    • Develop and maintain event budget.
    • Collaborate with marketing team to help create effective promotional campaigns for each event.
    • Provide post-event report, including budget & logistical wrap-up.
  2. Inventory Management: Oversee all aspects of promotional items and event materials, including fielding requests, ordering, maintaining inventory and delivery of items.
  3. Distribution: Oversee in printing, laminating and distribution of marketing materials (ex: flyers) and signage, as needed.
  4. Editing: Proofread and edit marketing collateral, which include articles, ads, flyers, invites, internal and external communication and brochures.
  5. Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing team and other departments to ensure cohesive and effective marketing efforts. Assist in the brainstorming, development and implementation of marketing campaigns, including email marketing, digital advertising, and promotional activities.
  6. Content Creation: Assist in creating engaging content for various marketing channels.
  7. Photography: Responsible for taking photos of community and corporate events.
  8. Networking: Serve as First Guaranty Bank liaison in external relations with local civic organizations (Chamber, Rotary, etc.). Attend meetings, luncheons, etc., when appropriate.
  9. Market Research: Conduct research on industry trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to inform marketing strategies.
  10. Administrative Tasks: Support the marketing team with various administrative tasks, such as maintaining project tracking spreadsheets and organizing marketing materials, validate and fulfill request for information, tracking mail and requests, track credit card expenses and invoices for department.
  11. Vendor Management: Serve as liaison between various vendors and departments, print suppliers, freelance talent, and various marketing services.
  12. Social Media: Assist with the growth of First Guaranty Bank's social media presence.
  13. Graphic Design: Assist in creating visually appealing graphics and marketing materials using design software.
  14. Compliance: Maintain marketing file for compliance.
  15. Any other duties and/or activities as may be assigned by your supervisor.
  16. Adheres to the BSA Policy and all other Bank Policies.


Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

  • Minimum GPA of 3.00
  • Enrolled in a Marketing related major (i.e. Advertising, Communications, Media, Graphic Design or Public Relations)
  • Must be able to work at lease 20 hours per week.
  • Knowledge of marketing principles.
  • Understand new technologies and applying to marketing principles.
  • Strong proofreading, grammar, and copywriting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), PowerPoint, Word and Excel experience is a preferred, and will be considered when choosing the best applicant for this internship position.
