Job Summary:
The Broadcast Radio Technician / Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting,
and operating radio transmission equipment, ensuring high-quality signal transmission, and
supporting live broadcast operations. The role involves working with various audio and
broadcast systems, including transmitters, audio consoles, and remote equipment. The ideal
candidate will have a solid understanding of broadcast technologies, strong problem-solving
abilities, and excellent attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
Broadcast Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and troubleshoot broadcast equipment,
including radio transmitters, audio mixers, processing equipment, and related systems.
Signal Monitoring: Monitor the broadcast signal quality, making necessary adjustments
to ensure optimal sound quality and consistency.
Technical Support: Provide on-site support for live broadcasts, including
troubleshooting and resolving technical issues quickly and efficiently.
System Upgrades and Installation: Assist with the installation, upgrade, and
configuration of new broadcast equipment and systems.
Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine checks and maintenance tasks to prevent
system failures and ensure equipment longevity.
Collaboration: Work closely with the programming and production teams to ensure
technical support for scheduled shows, remote broadcasts, and special events.
Compliance: Ensure all equipment and broadcasts comply with relevant regulatory
standards and industry best practices.
Documentation: Maintain detailed records of equipment usage, maintenance activities,
and technical issues for future reference.
Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Engineering, Electronics, or related field preferred, or
equivalent work experience.
Proven experience as a Broadcast Technician, Radio Engineer, or similar role in a radio
or broadcast environment.
Strong knowledge of broadcast equipment, including transmitters, mixers, automation
systems, and audio processors.
Proficiency in troubleshooting and maintaining broadcast and audio equipment.
Familiarity with digital audio systems, audio routing, and RF systems.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure
environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with both technical and non-
technical teams.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with IP-based broadcast systems and networking.
Knowledge of automation systems and remote broadcasting tools.
Familiarity with industry-standard broadcast software and systems, such as RCS, ENCO,
or similar platforms.
