Duties
Library Student Assistants serve as the face of the college and first line of assistance for students, faculty, staff, and community members entering the library, calling on the telephone, and seeking support via chat. In addition to library-specific tasks such as checking items in and out, shelving, and shelf reading, student assistants provide support across a wide variety of inquiries including directions, general campus & library information, computer assistance, printing, and the PaperCut system.
Student assistants also help keep the library clean and tidy throughout the day. A variety of other duties and projects may be assigned as needed to support library functions. Because of the high level of support provided to students and library staff, prompt and regular attendance is valued.

PLEASE NOTE: Applicants must also complete an availability questionnaire (sent via email after application is received). For Spring 2025, preference will be given to candidates with early afternoon availability on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
Requirements
MUST BE A CURRENT HCC STUDENT FOR THE SPRING 2025 SEMESTER.
MUST BE ENROLLED IN AT LEAST 6 CREDITS.
UNLESS FIRST-SEMESTER STUDENT, MUST HAVE ATTAINED A 2.0 SEMESTER GPA DURING THE MOST RECENT SEMESTER ATTENDED.

Special Skills Needed
- Desire and ability to provide outstanding customer service at a busy public desk
- Computer literacy and knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite as well as D2L, Pearson Labs, and PaperCut
- Self motivation with a strong work ethic
