We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic thinker for this flexible, hybrid role, with a proven track record in grant writing, strong research capabilities, and exceptional writing skills. You will collaborate with AmplifyDMC project managers to align proposals with client goals and create high-quality content across various formats.
Key Responsibilities
- Grant Writing
- Serve as grant writer for AmplifyDMC clients, including the development of proposal templates and conducting thorough background research to craft compelling program-specific "case for support" narratives.
- Conduct background research and develop program-specific cases for support.
- Develop and write high-quality grant applications.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary information and ensure proposals align with organizational goals.
- Edit and proofread grant proposals for clarity, coherence, and compliance with funder guidelines.
- Content Creation
- Write, edit, and proofread various types of content, including reports, articles, case studies, and marketing materials.
- Ensure all written content is engaging, accurate, and aligned with the client’s voice and messaging.
- Write content for client websites, social media, and newsletters as well as content for client fundraising, marketing and communication tools such as impact stories, mailings, and emails.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Storyteller: Can turn a collection of bullet points into a clear, concise, and compelling narrative.
- Decisive: Writes in a "less is more" style—both for brevity's sake and to meet grant portal character counts—without losing point of view.
- Agile and fast: Bounces among a range of projects (giving appeals, grant applications, e-newsletter copy) and juggles several different clients without sacrificing quality of work. Can shift writing style to capture different clients' voices and speak to different audiences.
- Content curator: Pulls the right research and statistics to build compelling narratives.
- Nonprofit experience: Understands nonprofit programs and clearly tells their story to someone who might not know the organization.
- Confident and focused on improvement: Takes feedback to meet client needs and strengthen writing.
- Creative: Will take risks to find new ways to write persuasively on behalf of clients.
- Bonus: Your special talent. Ampsters bring their own unique skills to contribute to our team. Copy editing, grant writing, marketing, research, evaluation, social media, are just examples of what you could bring. If you have a special skill that could contribute to our “advise and do” work with clients, please tell us about it!
