JOB SUMMARY:
The Grant Writer is responsible for researching, drafting and writing compelling grant proposals. This position works collaboratively with ELT and Riverland Community Health leadership to develop annual fundraising goals and develops targets and tactics to achieve those goals. The Grant Writer will also support grant reporting, ensuring timely deliverables are met.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for researching and writing all grant proposals on behalf of Riverland Community Health Center. Works collaboratively with members of the leadership team, including finance, to ensure completeness of all applications.
- Work with internal stakeholders to ensure activities related to the grant are completed and reported on in accordance with grant guidelines and specifications.
- Support ELT with donor relationships.
- Ensure compliance with HRSA, IRS regulations, and foundations' requirements for grants.
- Perform other duties as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent written communication skills
- Exceptional research skills with the ability to locate multiple streams of funding with metrics to support them.
- Great organizational skills.
- Must be able to work within deadlines and handle multiple projects at once.
- Bachelor's degree and five (5) years previous experience as a grant writer in healthcare system or clinic, or social service organizations or other complex nonprofit with multiple constituencies and programs.
- Commitment to Riverland Community Health's mission.
- Excellent writing ability that is clear, concise, and analytic in style.
- Ability to write for various audiences including foundations, federal, state, and local donors, and broader general communities.
- Comfortable with data management, administration, and metrics.
- Ability to work part-time hours (20 hours per week) with the potential for full-time hours and benefits.
- Ability to commit to on-site work occasionally.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a clinic office environment. Contact with staff, patients and outside agencies. Possible exposure to communicable disease and medical preparations common to clinic environment.
