General Description: The Student Photographer’s primary responsibility is to capture the full range of campus life at the University of Montevallo through clear, compelling photography. Images have the opportunity to be used on the University’s website, across various social media channels, in digital campaigns and in print publications.
Responsibilities:
- Photographs a variety of events including athletic games, fine arts performances, gallery openings, award presentations, and student life events.
- Photographs campus buildings, changing seasons, and other details to maintain a stock image library.
- Processes photos including culling, editing, renaming, keywording, and cataloging.
- Follows the procedure for filing images in the digital asset archive.
- Assists University Photographer/Videographer at events, marketing photoshoots, and in the studio.
- Possesses a cooperative attitude and willingness to take direction and feedback.
- Communicates quickly and efficiently through text and email.
- Flexibility to work between classes with availability on nights and weekends.
- Arrives on time for work in the office and at assigned events.
- Dresses appropriately for work in a casual, yet professional environment; some events might require a more specific dress code.
- Represents the University of Montevallo with a pleasant and professional demeanor through all interactions.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Intermediate to advanced experience with photography equipment including cameras, lenses, lighting, etc.
- Intermediate to advanced experience with Adobe Software including Lightroom, Photoshop, and Bridge in a Mac environment.
- Strong organizational skills and an eye for detail.
- Ability to prioritize and complete projects with minimal supervision.
- Reliable and responsible with an ability to work independently.
- Able to use personal equipment (camera and lenses) to photograph with; a camera and lenses are also available but limited.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service mentality.
- Beginner to intermediate videography experience is desirable but not required.
