Position Summary

The Audio-Visual Support Specialist supports the university’s technology-enhanced classrooms, video conferencing, distributed learning facilities, and other frontline IT services.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining hardware and software, especially within technology-enhanced classrooms and other learning spaces on campus.
  • Planning, installation, and user orientation of AV systems and related projects.
  • Ensuring the reliability of installed systems and continually developing new solutions to support classroom and learning space design.
  • Work alongside a team of IT professionals to aid in the planning of future projects related to the technological infrastructure in the classroom and learning spaces.
  • Providing remote and in-person frontline technology support.

Conditions of Employment

  • This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • This position may require overtime including scheduled and unscheduled, nights and weekends, and or holidays.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Must be able to climb ladders.
  • May require occasional overnight travel as needed.

Information Security: This position requires administrative access to the university’s information systems and/or sensitive College data. The incumbent is expected to be aware of and adhere to the Information Security policies of the university as well as all applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a technology support environment, including troubleshooting and maintaining audiovisual equipment.
  • Experience providing front-line customer service, gathering information, and troubleshooting end-user issues.
  • Basic network knowledge and an understanding of how AV technologies work within the enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Ability to engage in self-directed learning and adapt quickly to new information and challenges.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to create technical documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology.
  • IT or A/V related certifications (A+ certification, Crestron certifications, CTS).
  • Experience supporting Adobe Connect, Skype, Zoom, or similar tools.
  • Experience supporting or working in higher education.
  • Experience researching innovations in technology and assisting in choosing system upgrades and new technologies.

Advertised Pay Range: $45,000-$50,000
