Reports To: Associate Director, Communications and Marketing
General Summary:
The Marketing and Graphics Specialist, under the general direction of the Associate Director of Communications and Marketing, is responsible for day-to-day activities of the Communications and Marketing Department, including promoting the Library’s services and initiatives by assisting with graphic design, branding, social media/digital marketing, and more. This critical position works primarily to support the Communications and Marketing Department team members in the development and execution of promotional campaigns and maintaining communications services. Responsibilities:
- Support the graphic design and branding needs of CCPL including the review and development/design of marketing collateral, social media and Web graphics, and other visual branding components.
- Increase awareness of CCPL programs, service, and resources by developing, collecting, drafting, and posting/scheduling social media content, as well as tracking social media analytics.
- Assist in email marketing duties, including development and scheduling of campaigns, as well as tracking of analytics.
- Track and fulfill requests from library staff/departments including (but not limited to) print and design requests, collateral review, copy editing, general promotional assistance, and more.
- Manage the scheduling and booking of CCPL’s mascot.
- Take photos and videos of library programs and promotional content as needed.
- Manage the acquisition, storage, and distribution of library “swag” (i.e. promotional items).
- Assist with the planning and execution of special events such as press conferences, library openings, promotional events with CCPL community partners, etc.
- Work with other members of the Communications and Marketing Department to ensure continuity of brand imagery, promotions, and messaging.
- Edit copy of internal and external promotional materials including event calendars, website content, printed publications, and more.
- Assist with internal communications including the Staff eNewsletter, posting/updating content on the Staff Intranet, etc.
- Maintain and organize the library of brand assets (photos and videos).
- Respond to public and staff requests for information.
- Stay current with best practices, strategies, technologies, and industry trends within communications and marketing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of marketing, graphic design, and social media standards and practices.
- Experience in social media content creation, analytics, and optimizing engagement.
- Experience in graphic design and branding, including the use of design software (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Suites, etc.)
- Skills in photography and video, particularly short-form video (e.g. Instagram Reels).
- Skills in organization and optimizing system efficiencies.
- Experience with interpreting social analytics, preferred.
- Experience in customer or public service, preferred.
- Experience with copy editing and writing, specifically AP Style, preferred.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities, while demonstrating strong attention to detail and appreciation of deadlines.
- Ability to use tact, courtesy and good judgement when communicating with coworkers, and the public.
- Ability to communicate effectively and present ideas orally and in writing.
- Ability to carry out assignments independently and work collaboratively with a team.
- Ability to work well under pressure and time constraints, demonstrate an interest in continuous improvement of self and the organization.
- Proficiency with Spanish language a plus.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, business, or communications-related degree.
- 2 years of experience in communications, graphic design, or marketing-related field.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods and emerging technical advances.
- Must possess excellent customer service skills, ability to get along well with others and to communicate effectively with the public and with library staff, and a strong work ethic.

$47,528 – $53,518 annually commensurate with education and experience.
