JOB SUMMARY:
Conducts University courses for undergraduate students by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for teaching during the fall and spring semesters.
- Responsible for teaching stringed instruments, with a specialty in violin.
- Prepares and delivers lectures to students.
- Compiles specialized materials for assignments.
- Stimulates class discussion.
- Compiles, administers, and grades examinations, or assigns this work to others.
EDUCATION:
Master’s required, Ph.D. preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of two years teaching experience in a higher education setting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to work with little or no supervision.
- Must be able to make decisions supporting the department’s mission and goals.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks and projects and prioritize based on departmental functionality.
- Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Must have interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a culturally diverse organization.
- Must have a high level of professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Course specifics:
A pedagogical ability to teach stringed instruments: violin, viola, violincello, and stringed bass. The immediate needs are for a violin specialist.
The Music Department at Lincoln University is currently in the process of rebuilding our instrumental program with an ear to the future towards a Lincoln University Symphony Orchestra.
