The Assistant Director of Strategic Communications & Events at Thomas Jefferson University is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on enrollment marketing strategies and tactics, events and communication plans for the undergraduate and graduate enrollment portfolios (approximately 200 academic programs) across all Jefferson campus locations (Center City, East Falls, Dixon, Voorhees and JIB). The Assistant Director will utilize both traditional and experimental strategies to promote the Jefferson brand and increase enrollment of qualified students. The Assistant Director will collaborate extensively with colleagues within enrollment management, our internal administrative and academic partners, and will work directly with our external network of vendors and service providers.
Job Description
Essential Functions
Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
Enrollment Strategies & Tactics:
Utilize data and build/deploy surveys to strategically and regularly analyze the effectiveness of communications and admissions events. Plan, develop and execute strategies and tactics to ensure positive progress toward department defined KPIs.
Communication Plan Development:
Oversee the development, implementation, and assessment of complex communication plans that encourage funnel conversion. Communication plans will utilize all available communication platforms and mediums (print, electronic, text messaging, digital and social media) and account for a complex set of needs across diverse application pools. Monitor the results of email campaigns using A/B testing and analytical data to implement changes for improvement.
Event Design & Management:
Strategically manage a portfolio of event and visit opportunities for an assigned population. The incumbent will design and manage each opportunity with the goal of providing guests with a positive and memorable experience. Additionally, the incumbent will develop an event and visit plan that engages associated key influencer groups (parents, guidance counselors, etc.). Strategies will encompass on-campus and virtual events.
CRM (Slate by Technolutions):
Build communications including the creation and editing of content, updating HTML in emails templates, building and updating translation tables and content blocks. Utilize Deliver, Content Blocks, Translation Tables, Rules, Populations, Slate Print, Events, Scheduler, Ping, Portals and Forms on a regular basis. Develop queries and reports to monitor campaign and event performance. Stay up-to-date on Slate enhancements and new features as continuous learning and platform curiosity is required.
Website:
Collaborate with the University Marketing & Communications and Enterprise Digital Marketing teams to create and update website content. Strategically utilize web assets to impact enrollment objectives.
Asset Development & Management:
Develop and manage assets in collaboration with key strategy partners that will be used to generate demand for the University’s academic programs (website, print, email, digital, video, etc.). Ensure that Jefferson Enrollment Management efforts promote and protect the Jefferson brand.
Reporting & Analysis:
Create dashboards and monitoring reports; produce ad-hoc analyses. Utilize data to track results and course correct as needed.
Staff Management:
Directly manage employees as assigned and/or support department leadership in the oversight and mentorship of staff members within the team; serve as the point of contact in the absence of department leadership.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):
Technical Background:
Slate by Technolutions CRM experience (with advanced configurable joins experience, query and report building) is required, HTML coding and development knowledge is required, experience updating and managing content in web development platforms is required.
Client Services:
The incumbent will interact and collaborate on a regular basis with academic program directors, administrative partners, prospective students, high school and community college counselors, and a wide range of external service vendors.
Creative Services & Content Generation:
The incumbent will work directly with University Marketing colleagues to provide direction on assets (email, print, digital, video, web and event assets) that directly impact University enrollment goals.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, Marketing, User Experience or Higher Education Leadership/Administration is required.
AND
Experience:
3+ years of professional experience, 0+ years of management/leadership experience is required.
Experience in an undergraduate and/or graduate admissions office is strongly preferred.
Experience using Slate by Technolutions experience is required.
Additional Information
Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) is required.
