Job Description: The Office of the Chief Operations Officer (COO) seeks a marketing manager to support its wide-ranging marketing and communications efforts. The marketing Manager will report to the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications and work collaboratively as part of a dynamic marketing unit. The marketing manager will develop collateral for all aspects of marketing and communications within the department, including, but not limited to: print and digital signage, email campaigns, website management, promotional event planning and execution, and print and digital advertisements. They will meet regularly with leaders within the division to deliver and execute comprehensive marketing plans, helping each unit reach their sales and revenue goals.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, marketing or related field required.
- Five (5) plus years of experience in a university, non-profit, or corporate marketing setting is preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Excellent communication skills, strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong writer and content creator.
- Proven marketing experience, including the creation and implementation of marketing plans with prior success.
- Proficiency with Canva, the Adobe design suite, and content management systems preferred.
- Excellent eye for design and creativity and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at once.
Responsibilities:
- Working with the Assistant Director for Marketing and Communications for Office of the COO, research, create, deliver, edit, and execute comprehensive marketing plans, primarily for Auxiliary operations within the Office of the COO, including Campus Dining; Housing, Meal Plan and ID Card Services; Minnowbrook Conference Center; Drumlins Country Club; and the Joseph I. Lubin House. Measure actions resulting from marketing campaigns and strategic initiatives.
- Office of the COO’s Lead liaison with Syracuse University Division of Marketing for responsible for ensuring division compliance with University brand guidelines during design and review of needed marketing material, inclusive of signage, brochures, forms, postcards, giveaways, etc.
- Guide the unit’s social media specialist to create content for social channels. Coordinate with the University’s enterprise social media team as needed to pitch stories and content to be shared on enterprise channels.
- Ensuring content meets approval by Syracuse University Division of Communications, write, edit, and review internal news articles, website content, internal newsletter content, and social media content to various University constituents including students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
- Plan concepts and generate materials for industry and/or trade publications and conferences, to promote Auxiliary Services and Syracuse University to its peers.
