Education/experience
A combination of knowledge, skills and abilities, including education, certifications and/or demonstrated experience in broadcast, communications, journalism, photography, videography, film or related field. Experience in professional video production to include shooting, editing and producing video products, creation of standalone audio spots, and capture of high-quality still photography.
Job Summary
Produce multimedia projects, including high quality, professional videos, photos and audio recordings, while also generating and pitching creative video concepts that align with Radford University goals. Produce and direct video/multimedia web products that can be used for student recruitment, promotion and other outreach purposes. Ensure proper technical and aesthetically pleasing production design/execution. Capture professional quality photographs, in various orientations (i.e. vertical, horizontal, and square) to document events and the history of the university for use with digital marketing, social media, website and media coverage. Covering students, faculty, staff, alumni, university president, BOV members, guests and VIPs and/or for other university needs will be expected in addition to the beauty of campus. This position will research and recommend equipment and software for the video/multimedia department, such as sophisticated post-production software. This position coordinates scripts, on-camera talent, facilities and equipment, and schedules and directs video productions. Further, this position must maintain an organized, accessible library of B-roll needed for various university projects.
Required Qualifications
Experience in professional video production to include shooting, editing and producing video products. Experience with and proficiency in post-photography production with digital imagery and ability to process images using current industry-standard software. Experience with programs in the Adobe Suite such as Bridge, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop. Experience and demonstrated talent for directing, producing and editing multimedia projects using industry-standard software including, but not limited to, images, sound, voice-over capability, music, and computer-generated effects.
Demonstrated organizational skills to manage multiple, simultaneous projects and timelines, and maintain an organized, accessible photo and video B-roll repository for various university projects. Demonstrated talent for and skill at composing, shooting and editing digital still photography. Must be able to prioritize and process multiple, competing demands while maintaining superior customer service.
Additional Considerations
Experience as a professional videographer and photographer in a higher education environment or a video journalism background. Experience using digital asset management system. A charismatic, customer service-focused personality that builds rapport with a variety of people to help them feel comfortable in front of the camera. This person must demonstrate a teamwork-focused approach and commitment to collaboration. Experience with YouTube channel maintenance and an understanding of content creation and analytics for the channel. Also, knowledge of social media trends and the ability to create appropriate video content for those social platforms.
Hiring Range
Up to $51,500 depending on qualifications
