Job Summary
Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications for the David Eccles School of Business, this role involves developing marketing and communications strategies and executing tactics for the school and selected departments and programs. The goal is to increase awareness, elevate reputation, lead generation, and student engagement. Use strategic thinking to develop comprehensive marketing and communications plans. Perform a variety of writing, design, and project management tasks while using good judgment and strong interpersonal skills.
Must understand all marketing and communications channels including traditional, digital, advertising, social media, newsletters, data analytics, and reporting against KPIs. Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, relationship-building, writing, presentation, and problem-solving skills are essential. Agency or in-house marketing experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Serves as a direct line of contact between the Branding, Marketing, and Communications (BMC) team and department and program leaders.
- Develops marketing and communications strategies.
- Designs, coordinates, and executes a wide range of marketing and communications tactics.
- Writes content and copy for marketing and communications channels including website, advertising, email, newsletters, social media, presentations, and internal communications.
- Maintains robust relationships and ensures client satisfaction.
- Develops and communicates department information and accomplishments on various projects to its stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of marketing and communication tactics, adjusting plans as necessary, and reporting on performance against set KPIs.
- Serves as marketing and communications leader to collaborate with faculty members to further promote research to the public.
- Serves as leader and editor of monthly internal newsletter – curating and writing content.
- Coordinates paid advertising with external agency.
- Develops and adheres to project timelines.
- Manages budgets for each department and program.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and ensure the smooth operation of the department. A Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.
