The Deppmann Lab at the University of Virginia is seeking a motivated and creative work-study student to assist in rebuilding our lab website and developing a biochemistry-focused site for the broader community. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to science communication through modern web design while gaining experience in AI technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Rebuild and update the current Deppmann Lab website.
  • Design and build a new biochemistry website aimed at engaging a broader audience.
  • Integrate AI tools and technologies to enhance website functionality and user experience.
  • Collaborate with lab members to ensure content is accurate and accessible.
  • Utilize web design platforms such as Squarespace to create visually appealing and user-friendly designs.

Minimum Requirements: Must be a current undergraduate student eligible for work-study. Strong interest in web design, with experience using platforms like Squarespace. Familiarity with AI tools and technologies. Attention to detail and a good eye for design. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with web development and graphic design. Interest in science communication or biochemistry.

Compensation will take the form of wages at $15.00/hr.

This position will end on May 1, 2024.

Physical Demands:
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.
