2025-2026 Upper School Visual Art Teacher (Grades 9-12)

The Covenant School, an independent Christian Liberal Arts & Sciences school in Charlottesville, Virginia, is seeking a dedicated and dynamic educator to join our Upper School arts faculty starting in the 2025-26 school year. Our school serves over 750 students from Pre-K through Grade 12 and is a gospel-centered community of faith and learning, rooted in the Western Liberal Arts tradition.

Position Overview:

The Upper School Visual Art Teacher will teach a comprehensive visual art sequence for Grades 9-12. This includes introducing students to a variety of skills, media, and techniques in 2, 3, and 4 dimensions, along with some art history and contemporary visual artists. The ideal candidate will be a skilled visual artist eager to work collaboratively with colleagues in the Arts department and others in the local community. Candidates should possess a mature Christian faith and an educational philosophy consistent with The Covenant School’s mission statement. Most importantly, the candidate should be passionate about working with adolescents and dedicated to fostering their holistic development as individuals created in the image of God.

Qualifications:

1. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
2. Proven experience teaching high school students
3. Strong ability to integrate their Christian faith authentically in the context of their teaching
