General Description

The Library Systems Support Technician performs Specialized technical work supporting computers, assisting staff and patrons with technical issues, and utilizing library automated system services.

The schedule for this full-time position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Essential Functions

  • Provides helpdesk support to library staff for standard office software applications, basic hardware functionality, and library automated system applications.
  • Performs routine software maintenance updates on computers, updates helpdesk status reports and logs.
  • Provides technical support documentation to staff where applicable.
  • Oversees the complete set-up and configuration of computers, printers, and other peripherals as directed.
  • Supports the operation and maintenance of other library equipment and performs minor repairs as necessary.
  • Maintains an accurate inventory of all computer related equipment.
  • Drives and/or operates a county vehicle or equipment and must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

Education, Training, and Experience
  • Associate degree, or vocational-technical degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two (2) years of college education.
  • Two (2) years' work experience in computer or technology-related field that requires critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in a public library setting, customer service area, or other technical support capacity.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration, Skills
  • Valid Florida Driver License or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) in a clear, confident manner using proper grammar.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications and computer hardware and peripherals.
  • Requires ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of computers and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of Products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Must have or be able to obtain within 90 days certification in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses:
    • IS-100.c: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS); and
    • IS-700.b: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Requires a combination of sitting and standing throughout the workday.
  • The job involves frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • The job requires frequent bending, balancing, and occasional squatting, crawling, kneeling, twisting, and reaching above shoulders.
  • The job requires the completion of tasks that involve simple grasping, pushing, pulling, typing, and driving automotive equipment.
  • The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, depth perception and color vision, hearing, and speaking.

Emergency Response/Recovery Activities
  • All employees will be required to work before, during, or after an emergency. Emergency response duties may also include driving and/or operating a county vehicle or equipment and employees must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.
