Merchant McIntyre & Associates is a midsize federal grants and government relations firm headquartered in Washington, D.C., that helps nonprofit clients from the higher education, healthcare, and local government sectors reach their federal funding and legislative advocacy goals.

Merchant McIntyre seeks an experienced Grant Writer specializing in assisting educational institutions. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of securing funding for educational programs. The consultant will collaborate with stakeholders and draft compelling proposals to support successful grant applications.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify grant opportunities that align with education funding needs.
  • Develop persuasive grant proposals, applications, and supporting documentation tailored to specific funding requirements.
  • Collaborate with Merchant McIntyre's project managers and clients (including institutional leadership) to gather project data for grant submissions.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with grant reporting requirements and deadlines.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years of grant writing experience focusing on educational systems, specifically K-12 programs and community college needs.
  • Proven success in securing funding from federal sources.
  • Strong understanding of funding sources such as DOE and other education-focused programs.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently as an independent contractor.

Compensation:

  • This is a 1099 consultant position, compensation commensurate with experience and the scope of work.
  • Compensation range: $60-150 per hour
