The Production Manager and Lead Videographer is responsible for all creative and supporting video content for the organization, including their annual fundraiser. This position also films and edits a set number of kid reels each month and supports the organization’s marketing and graphic design needs.

  1. This is a full-time position.

  2. This position reports to the Shoots Manager and works closely with the Youth Engagement Leads.

  3. This position lives in or near the Twin Cities, Minnesota.


COMPENSATION:

Full-time, salaried: $63,000-73,000 DOQ

40+ hours per week

Work Week: Monday-Friday

In-Person Tuesday and Thursday

3 Weeks (120 hours) PTO

KID SHOOTS: 60%

  • Work with Shoots Manager, Youth Engagement Leads and Director of Operations + Outreach to film up to 8 kid reels each month

  • Manage set up/tear down for shoot days and events; set up audio, video and lighting when applicable; ensure audio and video are captured at the highest possible quality

  • Maintain the privacy and dignity of all involved; exercise wisdom and caution in modesty around youth footage

  • Direct and capture footage (interview, b-roll, and action) of individual youth or sibling groups; exercise creativity and attention to detail

  • Take a minimum of 8-10 photos of youth on shoot day (mix of action shots and portraits)

  • Engage positively and comfortably with a wide variety of youth spanning in age (toddler to young adult), developmental level, maturity, physical and mental abilities, faith, political background, gender identity, ethnicity, etc.

  • Engage positively and comfortably with social workers, site hosts, etc.

  • Display flexibility and patience during interviews or activities; pivot accordingly as plans change or youth require specific accommodations; always maintain a positive attitude and focus on capturing the youth’s best side

  • Edit captured video footage into a compelling two minute video

  • Edit a variety of clips to be exported and shared for varying event use and social platforms. Edit framing of videos to be maximized on various different platforms.

  • Serve as a strong partner to the Youth Engagement Lead on shoot days


SUPPORT VIDEOS: 20%

  • Work with team to execute Support Videos throughout the year as directed by the Shoots Manager and Director of Operations + Outreach

  • Work with team to complete annual fundraising film and a variety of support videos

  • Edit and communicate clearly with team within set project deadline

  • Communicate clearly and promptly across team platforms

  • Maintain technical acumen to be able to operate, configure, set up, and fix video, audio, lighting, or other production equipment

  • Oversee equipment purchasing and maintenance

  • Spearhead monetizing select promotional videos


MARKETING SUPPORT: 20%

  • Support Communications Manager with occasional graphic design elements

  • Support Communications Manager with occasional video marketing projects


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Residence in or near the Twin Cities

  • Reliable transportation

  • Comfortable with local or occasional overnight travel (day trips or out-of-state, multi-day trips)

  • 2+ years videographer experience

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Adaptive, flexible, and patient in high stress environments

  • Collaborative, open to team and/or social worker feedback

  • Ability to show initiative independently and work collaboratively on a small team

  • Proficiency in a video editing software

  • Strong commitment to protecting the privacy standards for foster care youth

  • Attend weekly team meetings and participate in an annual review with the Shoots Manager

  • Aligns with The Reel Hope Project’s Statement of Faith and Core Values

PREFERENCES:

  • Familiarity with Vimeo

  • Familiarity with Google Suite

  • Able to lift 50 lbs

  • 3+ years of experience working with youth strongly preferred; applicants with teaching or special education backgrounds strongly encouraged to apply
