Are you a talented designer looking to join a dynamic in-house team? Do you love Ōtautahi-Christchurch and want to contribute to making it a great place? We're looking for someone to join our awesome team of designers in a 6 month fixed term capacity.

About the role | Ko te mahi nei

As Junior Graphic Designer you'll join a talented team of designers and creatives responsible for the production of the Council's brand-led communications and marketing materials.

Your key role will be the layout of publications within clearly defined brand and style guidelines, producing finished artwork for print and digital production under the supervision of intermediate and senior designers. You'll have a thorough understanding of Adobe CC (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat) within a PC environment, and be reliable and flexible with excellent attention to detail.

This is a busy environment, so to really shine you'll need to be a team player who's happy to get stuck in, working quickly and efficiently under pressure. And of course, it's also an exciting opportunity to use and develop your skills, learning from an awesome, experienced team. Due to the short-term nature of this role, we do require someone who can hit the ground running. Experience formally working in graphic design is required.

Sound good so far? Here's what you need:

  • Diploma of Graphic Design (NZQA Level 6) or equivalent is desirable
  • Proven ability in producing design using Adobe Creative Suite Software
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines is essential
  • Familiarity with digital file formats (tiff, gif, eps, pdf, jpeg, fla, swf, png) and the strengths of each
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proofing, grammar and spelling

What's in it for you? He aha ngā hua ki a koe?
