What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Develop and implement cohesive communications and outreach strategies aligned with agency mission and goals
- Create outreach materials, press releases, newsletters, and social media content tailored to target audiences
- Assist federal staff in crisis communication by drafting accurate and timely responses to media inquiries
- Support the planning and coordination of events, including logistics, venue selection, and promotional materials
- Conduct post-event evaluations to identify challenges and successes, providing recommendations for future improvements
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, public administration, communications, public relations, or related field; or 3 years of experience in a similar role
- Minimum 1 year of experience developing communication packages, strategies, or plans for an organization or project
- At least 1 year of experience supporting an Office on Trafficking in Persons (OTIP) and/or Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) program
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
- Proficient with MS Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in event planning and execution
- Knowledge of 508 compliance standards
- Education and/or experience related to race equity, diversity, and inclusion strategies in human services
- Familiarity with the challenges faced by refugees, immigrants, and asylees
- Previous experience working for a refugee/migrant program
