Company Overview
Manages key Dollar General Print Advertising Programs which include: Circulars, Grand Opening Advertising, Coupon Handouts, Specialty In-Store Handout Books, Postcard Mailings, ROP Newspaper Ads and all other non-traditional print media. Key responsibilities include strategic planning, budget management for all Print advertising, project management, leadership and direction to advertising agency and vendor relations for Co-op Ad activities.
Job Details
- Print Advertising:
- Develop and manage ad strategy planning and strategic processes to grow market share through effective print advertising functions to support company sales initiatives.
- Oversee program management to ensure all ad logistics are accomplished; manage calendar development, and ensure timelines met and materials to all internal and external partners are communicated.
- Act as liaison between Marketing department and other disciplines within company to develop and execute defined programs (this includes IT, In-Store Communications, Store Operations, Merchandising, and Accounting).
- Lead and manage ad agency team members for all necessary execution functions critical for program development and implementation.
- Responsible for overall accuracy of print advertising.
- Budget Analysis & Forecasting:
- Manage and direct all accounting functions necessary for Advertising budget management, as well as the overall Marketing department’s budget submission.
- Manage Advertising performance by development of a tracking system and analysis reporting.
- Grand Opening Program:
- Manage Grand Opening program marketing and advertising functions (for new, relocation, remodel, and local store activity); Grand Opening program design and development, implementation functions including: system programming and automation of workflow tool, calendar management, budget management, and analysis of program results.
- Strategy:
- Partner with Marketing Director (Advertising) to develop goals and budgets for all print advertising.
- Track and monitor competitive activity for strategic opportunities to incorporate into Dollar General programs.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
- Advertising skills:
- Knowledgeable in key disciplines within advertising, such as media management, creative design, art direction and production, with an emphasis on customer-facing communications and signing, to lead execution of effective and targeted customer communications.
- Copy-writing
- Art design
- Photography direction
- Event marketing.
- Finance and budgeting: ability to manage and develop budgets and forecasts.
- Agency oversight: ability to manage and grow relationships with third-party agencies and service providers to deliver excellent work with savings to the company.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to all levels including senior management.
- Deadline-driven: Ability to manage multiple complex tasks/projects while demonstrating composure and flexibility; ability to overcome internal and external obstacles as they arise in order to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented; ability to prioritize workloads and deadlines.
- Must be proficient in use of spreadsheet, word processing, and email computer applications.
- Ability to solve problems and anticipate issues by providing solutions in a clear and diplomatic manner.
- Strong organizational skills and strong communication skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of 5-6 years experience in advertising and marketing required. Media buying and creative design experience preferred.
